But there is no single price that applies to every LFA: reported auction sales vary sharply by car and sale. The all-electric LFA Concept unveiled in December 2025 is a separate vehicle, not a V10-powered production LFA.
What is the Lexus LFA?
The LFA was Lexus’s low-volume supercar, developed as a purpose-built engineering project rather than a rebodied model from its regular lineup. Lexus says its research and development began around 2000, the first prototype was completed in 2003, and production at Motomachi began at the end of 2010. Production was limited to 500 cars.
Lexus Europe says assembly proceeded at about one car per day, and each engine was assembled and signed off by one technician. That production approach, along with the car’s unusual materials and engine, is part of what distinguishes the LFA from a high-volume luxury coupe.
What makes the LFA V10 special?
The original LFA’s engine is a naturally aspirated 4,805 cc V10 developed with Yamaha through the existing Toyota–Yamaha engineering relationship. Lexus UK lists a 72-degree cylinder-bank angle, a 12:1 compression ratio, dry-sump lubrication, and an electronically controlled throttle body for each cylinder. These are manufacturer specifications, rather than independent test findings.

- Model kit - requires construction & painting
- Paint & glue is not supplied
- Further information on the kit and sometimes a copy of the building instructions may be found by clicking on the link below and typing The product code in to the search box.
- Power: 552 bhp at 8,700 rpm, according to Lexus UK.
- Torque: 480 Nm at 6,800 rpm.
- Maximum engine speed: 9,000 rpm.
- Acceleration and top speed: Lexus UK lists 0–62 mph in 3.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 202 mph.
Lexus says 90 percent of peak torque is available from 3,700 rpm to the 9,000 rpm redline. That broad stated range means the engine is not simply a high-revving unit that only works near its limit, even though its ability to rev is central to the LFA’s character.
The engine’s sound was also deliberately developed. Lexus describes an acoustic team’s “Octave Harmony” tuning, inspired by the sound of a Formula 1 engine at full revs. That is Lexus’s account of the design goal; it is not an objective ranking of how the LFA compares with other cars.

Why did Lexus use carbon fibre?
Lexus initially explored an aluminum structure, then changed to carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the production car. Lexus says it developed CFRP manufacturing processes in-house, drawing on Toyota’s textile-weaving expertise. The shift made the LFA a materials and manufacturing project as well as a performance-car program.
The result was a car whose identity came from several systems working together: engine response and sound, structure, handling, and stability. LFA chief engineer Haruhiko Tanahashi described his aim this way: “I intended to build a supercar that would take the driver to this state through the unity of its parts – the engine’s sound, its feel when revving, its handling and stability.” He called that state “euphoria.”

What is different about the Nürburgring Package?
The Nürburgring Package was a more focused specification offered within the 500-car production run. Lexus USA said it was limited to 50 cars. Its 2010 announcement listed engine output of 562 hp, compared with 552 hp for the standard LFA in that announcement, and a shift time reduced to 0.15 seconds.
| Feature | Standard LFA | Nürburgring Package |
|---|---|---|
| Production figure | Part of the 500-car total | Limited to 50 cars, according to Lexus USA |
| Engine output | 552 hp in Lexus USA’s 2010 announcement | 562 hp in the same announcement |
| Shift time | Not stated in the cited Lexus USA announcement | 0.15 seconds, according to Lexus USA |
| Chassis and tires | Standard specification | Sport-tuned suspension and dedicated high-grip tires |
| Aerodynamics and wheels | Standard specification | Larger front spoiler, fixed rear wing, and black mesh wheels |
The package’s original US announced price was $70,000 on top of the $375,000 standard LFA MSRP; matte black added $20,000. Those are 2010 announcement prices, not current market values. The available sales examples do not establish a reliable dollar premium for the Nürburgring Package today.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why is the Lexus LFA worth so much?
Its limited production and distinctive engineering help explain collector interest, but rarity alone does not set a car’s value. Condition, mileage, originality, service and ownership history, exact specification, provenance, and the auction venue can all affect a completed sale. A specialist market guide, Sports Car Market’s Platinum Auction Database, reports several LFA sales that illustrate how wide the outcomes can be:
| Sale date | Venue | Reported price | Condition grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| April 30, 2026 | Bring a Trailer | $1,817,500 | 2+ |
| November 10, 2025 | Bring a Trailer | $683,500 | 2+ |
| March 10, 2025 | Bring a Trailer | $958,500 | 1− |
| September 4, 2024 | Bring a Trailer | $817,500 | 2 |
These are individual completed-sale records reported by Sports Car Market, whose guide was updated September 25, 2026. They demonstrate a broad spread, not a standard LFA price or proof of a market-wide upward trend. Before using any one sale as a comparison, a buyer would need to check the car’s exact identity and specification, mileage, history, and the circumstances of the sale. An RM Sotheby’s Miami 2024 catalog entry, for example, describes serial number 336 as an unusually low-mileage Nürburgring Package car and discusses its provenance, but that catalog entry alone does not establish a sale price.

- AUTOart 1:18 Scale Composite Die-Cast Model
- Modeled in nearly 12 years with new molds using the latest technology that has been updated (as of 2023). In addition to the precise shape of the body, the engine compartment, interior parts, special forged wheels, carbon brakes etc., have been reproduced in realistic detail
- The roof and "Active Rear Wing" have been made to be a special specification with a carbon pattern. The prototype was first published at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show
For a personal-finance perspective, the distinction matters: a record auction result is not the same as a typical resale value, an appraisal, or a guaranteed investment return. The cited sales do not establish a universal fair-market value or show how much the LFA contributed to Lexus’s profitability.
Is the 2025 Lexus LFA Concept the same car?
No. The Lexus LFA Concept unveiled in December 2025 is an all-electric concept. It is separate from the original 2010–2012 production LFA, whose defining powertrain is the naturally aspirated V10. The concept should not be counted as another version of the original production car or used to describe its engine.
