If you already applied, use your secure Login.gov account or contact your USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) county office to check your application or payment status.
Is USDA Farm Bridge Assistance signup still open?
No new FBA applications can be filed under the enrollment period described by USDA. FSA set the application window for February 23 through April 17, 2026. Its current FBA program page says the period is closed.
FBA was a one-time USDA bridge-payment program for eligible producers of specified 2025 crops. USDA announced up to $11 billion for FBA as part of a broader $12 billion farmer bridge-payment package in December 2025. Those figures described the program funding, not an amount available to each producer.
When were FBA payments expected, and what does February 28 mean?
February 28, 2026, was an announced expectation and early-payment milestone; it is not a future payment date. In a December 31, 2025 announcement, Agriculture Secretary Brooke L. Rollins said qualifying farmers could expect payments in their bank accounts by that date. A later FSA enrollment announcement said online applicants could receive a payment as early as February 28. That wording described a possibility, not a guarantee that every applicant would be paid by then.
#1 Best Overall
FSA’s current program page says payments are issued as applications are approved. Because the announced date has passed, applicants should check their individual status rather than assume that payment was issued or that they are ineligible if it was not.
How can you check an existing application or payment?
- Sign in to your secure FSA online account through Login.gov. FSA says applicants with secure Login.gov accounts can track application and payment status.
- If you cannot access the online status tools or need help interpreting your case, contact your FSA county office. USDA’s February 20, 2026 enrollment announcement described the county office as an application route; county offices are also the appropriate contact for individual program questions.
Have your application and farm information available when you contact FSA. The public program page provides general rules, but only FSA can confirm the status and determination for a particular producer.

Who and what did FBA cover?
FBA applied to eligible producers of specified 2025 crops, not every farm or commodity. FSA’s program page lists these eligible commodities:
- Barley, chickpeas, corn, cotton, lentils, oats, peanuts, peas, rice, sorghum, soybeans and wheat
- Canola, crambe, flax, mustard, rapeseed, safflower, sesame and sunflower
Among the stated conditions, a producer needed to be actively engaged in farming, have risk and interest in the eligible planted commodity, and report eligible 2025 crop acres by FSA’s December 19, 2025, 5 p.m. Eastern Time cutoff. Certain reported intended uses—including grazing, experimental use, green manure, left standing and cover crops—were excluded. These conditions do not establish an individual’s eligibility; consult FSA’s full program rules or county office for a case-specific determination.

How were FBA payments calculated and limited?
FSA says the payment calculation used the flat rate for an eligible commodity multiplied by the producer’s eligible reported acres. It was acreage-based, not based on the amount of crop produced, and FSA states there was no payment factor. An individual payment cannot be determined from the general description alone: the applicable commodity rate, eligible acreage and producer-specific determinations matter.
FSA’s current program page lists a $155,000 payment limit per producer. It also says persons or legal entities, subject to stated exceptions, with average adjusted gross income above $900,000 are ineligible. See FSA’s page for the full limits and exceptions.

Does FBA cover specialty crops?
No. USDA handled specialty crops through the separate Assistance for Specialty Crop Farmers (ASCF) program, which was also a one-time bridge payment program. Its application deadline was August 7, 2026, so enrollment is closed as of October 4, 2026. FBA’s crop list, acreage rules and deadline should not be applied to ASCF. The official ASCF page has that program’s information and any current status updates.
