Greubel Forsey plans to keep production limited rather than pursue significant growth, while choosing projects for their lasting contribution to watchmaking. In a 2 February 2026 interview, CEO Michel Nydegger said the company makes about 200 watches a year, described Stephen Forsey’s step back from daily operations as no change to the roadmap, and previewed a fourth Naissance d’une Montre project.
What is Greubel Forsey’s priority for the future?
Nydegger said the priority is to make the company’s work sustainable over the long term. He described a demanding test for each new project: “For every project, the first question we ask ourselves is very simple but very demanding: Why should this timepiece exist?” The aim, as he put it, is for each project to have a reason to exist in watchmaking history.

He also described a supply approach in which the company pauses production of a reference when enough pieces are available, then resumes after demand absorbs them. That policy suggests the brand intends to manage output around the availability of individual references rather than chase volume growth.
What does Stephen Forsey’s step back mean?
Nydegger said Stephen Forsey has stepped away from daily operational involvement but remains a shareholder. According to the CEO, the change will not alter Greubel Forsey’s strategy, roadmap or operations. The interview therefore frames the transition as a change in day-to-day involvement, not a change in the company’s stated direction.

What projects are coming next?
Nydegger previewed a fourth Naissance d’une Montre project with the Time Aeon Foundation. He also said the project would involve an emerging brand that had not yet been publicly introduced at the time of the interview. No launch date or further identifying details were confirmed in that conversation.
