A Kelley Blue Book snapshot put a 2020 Stingray Coupe’s Fair Purchase Price at $54,470, while a 2022 example was $60,480. Those are guide figures, not guaranteed prices: mileage, condition, location, trim, options, seller, and fees can move the number substantially.
How much does a used C8 Corvette Stingray cost?
There is no single fair price for a used C8. The available figures span different model years, valuation methods, condition grades, and market samples, so compare like with like rather than treating them as interchangeable quotes.
| Reference | Figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 Stingray Coupe, Kelley Blue Book | Fair Purchase Price: $54,470; private-party estimates: $51,760 in fair condition to $54,060 in excellent condition | KBB page snapshot for ZIP 08002, with values stated as valid through September 11, 2026. This is a dated, location-specific guide example, not a live offer. Kelley Blue Book |
| 2022 Stingray Coupe, Kelley Blue Book | Fair Purchase Price: $60,480; trade-in estimates: $50,570–$55,370; private-party estimates: $54,980–$60,180 | Condition-based estimates from a KBB page accessed October 4, 2026; its displayed example is location-sensitive. KBB says Fair Purchase Price draws on actual consumer purchase prices and other data. Kelley Blue Book |
| Used Corvette market averages, CarGurus | 2020: $62,927; 2021: $64,457; 2022: $67,768 | Year-level average used Corvette prices, not Stingray-only transaction prices. The 12-month changes were -4.25%, -5.59%, and -4.47%, respectively. Historical pricing excludes dealer fees; accessed October 4, 2026. CarGurus price trends |
| 2020 Corvette, Hagerty valuation report | $48,200 fair; $64,300 good; $70,900 excellent; $80,400 concours | Condition-based values in a report published October 7, 2025. Hagerty’s scale and valuation method differ from KBB’s, so these are a separate reference, not a range to merge with KBB estimates. Hagerty valuation report |
These values show why “a C8 costs about $55,000” can be misleading. A fair-condition 2020 private-party estimate and a dealer-oriented purchase guide for a 2022 Coupe describe different cars and different kinds of value. Asking prices may differ again, and a listing price is not proof of the final transaction price.
Why the prices suggest greater affordability
The 2020 Stingray launched with a starting price of $59,995, according to Chevrolet’s launch document hosted by the National Corvette Museum. That launch figure is useful context, not a direct comparison with a current used-car transaction: it refers to a base new-car starting price, before differences in equipment, condition, taxes, and market timing. #1 Best Overall
- Opening parts and rolling wheels
- Easy assembly, pre-painted metal body
- When finished the vehicles are fully functional
- Rolling diecast replica
- Skill level: intermediate
There is also evidence of downward movement in the broader used market. CarGurus’ year-level averages for 2020, 2021, and 2022 Corvettes were each lower than a year earlier when accessed October 4, 2026. Hagerty’s October 2025 2020 Corvette values were also down year over year across its four condition categories: 7.3% for concours, 8.0% for excellent, 8.7% for good, and 10.9% for fair. These trends support “more attainable”; they do not establish that every Stingray listing has fallen by those amounts.
What makes one C8 a better deal than another?
A sound comparison starts with the exact car and how its price is being described. A lower number may reflect a different condition, seller type, or mileage rather than a bargain on an otherwise equivalent Stingray.

- Brand new box.

- Detailed interior, exterior. Made of diecast with some plastic parts.
- Dimensions approximately L-7.5, W-3.5, H-2 inches.
Match the model and equipment
- Compare the same model year and body style: the 2020 C8 Stingray was offered as a two-seat coupe or convertible.
- Check the trim (1LT, 2LT, or 3LT), Z51 package, and other options. Equipment differences can make two listings with similar mileage poor direct comparisons.
- Confirm that the listing is for a Stingray, rather than assuming a year-level Corvette average describes that trim.
Account for condition and history
- Compare mileage, title status, accident history, service records, and visible or documented condition.
- Use the same condition category when consulting valuation guides. KBB separates trade-in, private-party, and Fair Purchase Price figures; Hagerty applies its own condition scale.
- For a specific car, evaluate the documentation and inspection findings rather than relying on a broad market average.
Compare the real purchase cost
- Separate the asking price from the negotiated purchase price and from a valuation-guide estimate.
- Check whether dealer fees, taxes, and registration are included. CarGurus says its historical pricing excludes dealer fees.
- Budget separately for insurance, financing, tires, and maintenance. The cited valuation sources do not establish these costs for an individual buyer.
Is a used C8 Stingray a good buy for your budget?
It may be a good buy if the particular car’s price, condition, and ownership costs fit your finances—not simply because the model’s market is easing. A 2020 C8 is not automatically a sub-$50,000 car: KBB’s cited private-party estimate for fair condition was $51,760, while Hagerty’s separate 2025 fair-condition valuation was $48,200. The figures differ because their methods, dates, and valuation categories differ.
For a 2022 Coupe, the cited KBB Fair Purchase Price was $60,480, with private-party estimates ranging from $54,980 to $60,180 depending on condition. Treat that as a comparison point from the page snapshot, not a promise that a dealer or seller in your area will offer a particular car at that amount.
