ASUS has described rising memory costs and tight component supply as pressures on its PC business, but the available evidence does not establish a fixed price increase for every ASUS computer. Its comments point to possible price and availability changes—not a guaranteed percentage rise for buyers.
What ASUS said about rising PC costs
In remarks reported by HotHardware on November 13, 2025, ASUS co-CEO Shubin Hu linked rising DRAM costs to demand from AI servers and limited growth in memory production. The report discussed pressure on the PC industry; it did not establish a price increase for every ASUS model. HotHardware’s report
ASUS management described the issue again in the company’s Q1 2026 earnings call. A transcript hosted by Alpha Spread records management discussing sharp volatility in memory and storage costs, tight memory and CPU supply, and coordination with suppliers. Alpha Spread is a third-party transcript host, not ASUS’s investor-relations site. Q1 2026 call transcript hosted by Alpha Spread
The transcript records ASUS management saying memory prices had surged nearly 100% in Q1 2026. That is the company’s statement about memory prices, not a retail-price series for ASUS computers. It cannot be translated into a 100% increase in the price of a PC.

Does this mean ASUS PCs will cost more?
Not necessarily by a single, predictable amount. The sources establish component-cost pressure and a separate secondary report of selected product adjustments, but they do not establish a universal ASUS price policy, a percentage applicable across the product range, or a verified increase for a named model.
SmBom reported on December 31, 2025, that ASUS had notified customers of price adjustments for selected products beginning January 5, 2026. The report does not establish the geography, a universal percentage, or that every PC was affected. Treat it as a report about selected items, not confirmation of a company-wide PC increase. Similarly, HotHardware mentioned the ASUS TUF Gaming T500 in coverage of shortage concerns, but the available material does not verify a model-specific price rise for that desktop. Check its current price and exact configuration rather than assuming its price changed because of the broader memory warning.
How ASUS says it is managing tight supply
The Q1 2026 transcript records ASUS management saying it worked closely with upstream memory and CPU vendors and that shortages were not severely affecting operations. Nick Wu, identified in the transcript as an ASUS executive, said: “Now for ASUS, we do work very closely with our upstream memory and CPU vendors. And so despite the existing shortages, they’re not severely impacting our operations.” The statement describes management’s view on the call; the transcript is hosted by Alpha Spread. Transcript

Management also described supplier memoranda of understanding, existing inventory, internal stockpiling rules, and supplier volumes that could remain roughly flat versus 2025. These are statements made on the call, not independent verification of supply volumes.
Product priorities
According to the transcript, ASUS gave higher-end products priority while seeking to retain a presence in mid- and lower-end segments. Wu said: “Of course, internally, it is true that high-end products do have higher priority. However, we will not be abandoning the mid- to low end completely.” This describes product allocation priorities, not a guarantee that every model or configuration will remain equally available.

What ASUS forecast for the PC market
On the Q1 2026 call, ASUS management projected that global PC shipments could decline 10% to 15% in 2026. This is a company outlook, not a final shipment result or a forecast that ASUS prices will rise by the same percentage. Q1 2026 call transcript

What to check before buying an ASUS PC
For a personal-finance decision, compare the exact machine in front of you rather than budgeting around an unverified blanket increase. Retail prices can vary by seller and configuration, and component pressure alone does not tell you what a specific computer will cost.
Quick Recap
- Current price: Compare the price of the exact configuration across retailers and check whether any discount is temporary.
- Included memory and storage: Note the RAM amount and SSD capacity; two PCs with the same model name may have different specifications.
- Upgradeability: Check whether memory or storage can be upgraded and whether doing so affects warranty coverage.
- Availability: If a preferred configuration is out of stock, compare alternatives by specifications and total cost rather than assuming a replacement model is equivalent.
- Product tier: ASUS said it prioritized higher-end products while aiming to maintain mid- and lower-end offerings, but that does not guarantee local stock or a particular price.
