Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover is complete: Arise Capital Partners, led by David Storch, completed its purchase in May 2026. James Bord’s consortium had withdrawn from the process in February. No reliable figure for David Storch’s, Michael Storch’s or the family’s net worth is established in the available reporting, and the club’s purchase cannot be used as a proxy for their personal wealth.

Who owns Sheffield Wednesday now?

Arise Capital Partners LLC completed its purchase of Sheffield Wednesday on 2 May 2026, ending Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership, BBC Sport reported. The club had named Arise as its preferred bidder in March, identifying David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin as members of the group. The club said Arise had provided a substantial deposit and evidence of funds, but its offer was below the amount needed to pay creditors 25 pence in the pound, according to the club’s sale-process update.

After completion, the EFL waived a further 15-point deduction on exit from administration, BBC Sport reported. The club remained subject to budget restrictions for two seasons.

Is the Storch family’s net worth known?

No reliable net-worth estimate for David Storch, Michael Storch or the family collectively is established in the cited reporting. The club and BBC accounts identify the consortium and confirm the acquisition, but do not disclose personal balance sheets or a verified estimate of the family’s wealth.

The purchase does not reveal the family’s net worth. A consortium’s financing may involve multiple members, investors or other funding, and the amount associated with a club transaction is not the same as any one person’s assets minus liabilities. Without verified financial disclosures, assigning a net-worth figure would be speculation.

Why did James Bord’s Sheffield Wednesday bid collapse?

Bord’s consortium became preferred bidder in December 2025, but withdrew in February 2026 after further due diligence by PwC. The Guardian reported that the group believed its offer exceeded what the findings justified. It put the understood bid at around £40 million and reported that the consortium had spent around £4 million on its non-refundable deposit and running costs. Those are reported transaction figures, not an official sale price, audited valuation or measure of Bord’s personal wealth. The Guardian’s account quoted an unnamed consortium spokesperson saying the offer was significantly higher than justified by due diligence; the quote should not be attributed personally to Bord.

How the club moved from administration to a completed sale

  1. October 2025: Sheffield Wednesday entered administration. The EFL said steps had been taken to appoint administrators for both the football club and the company that owns Hillsborough, triggering an automatic 12-point deduction under league regulations. See the EFL statement of 24 October 2025.
  2. December 2025 to February 2026: Bord’s consortium was preferred bidder, then withdrew after due diligence.
  3. 10 March 2026: Wednesday named Arise Capital Partners its preferred bidder. The club said the offer was below the level needed to return 25 pence in the pound to creditors.
  4. 2 May 2026: Arise completed the purchase, BBC Sport reported, and the club exited administration under the EFL conditions described above.

What about the Bordeaux report involving James Bord?

A 25 September 2026 article on the independent Sheffield Wednesday fan site The Owls said Bord had agreed to buy Girondins de Bordeaux for a symbolic €1 and that his Wednesday attempt was over. The report said the matter had been reported to a Bordeaux commercial court and pointed to City AM as its first report, but the available account did not include a primary court record or official Bordeaux announcement. Treat that claim as unconfirmed rather than settled fact. It does not alter the documented sequence for Wednesday: Bord withdrew in February, and Arise completed the purchase in May.
