Brave said it had 101 million monthly active users (MAU) worldwide across desktop and mobile as of September 30, 2025, passing the 100-million mark. Its latest dated transparency snapshot reports 128.3 million MAU as of September 30, 2026. Both figures are company-reported, not independently audited.

When did Brave reach 100 million monthly active users?

Brave announced the milestone on October 1, 2025, reporting 101 million browser MAU worldwide as of September 30, 2025. MAU counts users active during a month; it is not a count of all people who have ever installed the browser. The announcement covers desktop and mobile. Brave’s milestone announcement does not provide an independent audit of its counting methodology.

Brave also reported 42 million daily active users (DAU) for September 2025, equivalent to a 0.42 DAU-to-MAU ratio. DAU counts users active on a day, so it is a different measure from MAU and should not be read as a second estimate of total users.

How many people use Brave Browser now?

Brave’s Transparency Data Feed reports 128.3 million MAU and 54.6 million DAU as of September 30, 2026. These are the latest dated company figures cited here; the feed is updated regularly, so the totals may change. See the Brave Transparency Data Feed for its current snapshot.

What else did Brave report about growth?

In its October 2025 announcement, Brave said it had added an average of about 2.5 million net new browser users per month over the preceding two years. The company attributed growth to greater awareness of privacy concerns and to users switching when offered a choice. These are Brave’s explanations, not independently established causes.

As one example, Brave said daily installs of its iOS browser in the EU rose 50% with the new browser choice panel after implementation of the Digital Markets Act and the release of iOS 17.4 in 2024. That example is the company’s reported result; the announcement does not establish it as an independently tested causal estimate.

How should Brave Search figures be interpreted?

Brave’s October 2025 post said Brave Search handled more than 1.6 billion queries per month—nearly 20 billion annualized—and more than 50 million user queries per day. It also reported over 15 million AI-generated search answers per day and said roughly 8% of total daily search queries came from browsers other than Brave. These are search activity figures, not browser user totals. Search queries can come from users who do not use Brave Browser, and browser MAU does not equal searches performed.

What does the user milestone say about Brave’s product?

Brave describes its browser as based on Chromium on Android and desktop, and WebKit on iOS. The company says its built-in Shields feature blocks ads, trackers, cross-site cookies, and fingerprinting by default. These are Brave’s product descriptions, not independent privacy or speed test results. Brave’s About page provides its product overview.

Brave CEO and co-founder Brendan Eich characterized the milestone as “a movement for a better Web that puts users first.” That is his view of what the growth represents; the user count alone does not establish why people chose the browser.

What the numbers do—and do not—establish

  • Brave reported 101 million browser MAU worldwide as of September 30, 2025, then 128.3 million MAU as of September 30, 2026.
  • Those counts, the DAU figures, and the explanations for growth come from Brave. No independent numeric corroboration of the totals is identified here.
  • The 100-million figure is a dated 2025 milestone, not Brave’s latest reported user count.
  • Search volume, browser users, daily active users, and monthly active users are separate measures and should not be combined.
