Arrow Electronics announced on November 3, 2014, that Peter S. Brown would retire as the company’s senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Arrow named Gregory Tarpinian, then its vice president of legal affairs, as Brown’s successor in all three roles. The announcement is historical, not a new development.

What Arrow Electronics announced

Arrow’s November 3, 2014 announcement said Brown was retiring from his position as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. The company said he had held that role since joining Arrow in 2001. The company’s 2013 Form 10-K also lists Brown in those capacities.

Arrow did not give a separate effective date for the retirement, and the announcement did not describe Brown’s plans after leaving the company.

Who replaced Peter S. Brown?

Arrow named Gregory Tarpinian to succeed Brown as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. According to the announcement, Tarpinian had served in Arrow’s legal department for more than 20 years and most recently was vice president of legal affairs.

How Arrow described Brown’s service

Michael J. Long, then Arrow’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, praised Brown’s counsel to him, the board and the company, as well as Brown’s approach to managing risk while supporting growth. Long added: “We wish him all the best in his retirement.”

The announcement identifies the transition and successor but does not provide further details about the timing or Brown’s post-retirement plans.
