Three European deep-tech companies announced major funding rounds in July 2025: SiPearl reported a €130 million Series A, Exein a €70 million Series C, and Q.ANT a €62 million Series A. All three said the money would support growth, but they are scaling very different businesses: high-performance computing processors, embedded cybersecurity software, and photonic computing hardware. Developments through 4 October 2026 also change the picture: Exein announced two further fundraises, while SiPearl was selected for consideration for a potential EU investment that had not yet closed.
How the three July 2025 rounds compare

The rounds were not identical in stage or business model. SiPearl and Q.ANT raised Series A rounds; Exein, further along in its financing sequence, raised a Series C. Their funding totals are not a meaningful ranking of technical performance: the companies make different kinds of products for different markets.
What each company is trying to scale
SiPearl: turning processor design into industrial production
SiPearl develops CPUs for supercomputing and data-centre workloads. Its announced funding plan linked the round to the industrialization of Rhea1 and continued R&D for future processors. The company identifies supercomputer programs including JUPITER and Alice Recoque as part of its work. That puts the financing in the context of complex hardware development and institutional computing programs, rather than a consumer processor launch.
Exein: expanding embedded device security
Exein provides runtime security software intended to protect connected devices while they operate. Its July 2025 Series C was led by Balderton, with Supernova and Lakestar and existing investors participating. Exein said international expansion was a use of the proceeds. This is a software business focused on device makers and connected-device deployments, not a consumer cybersecurity subscription described by the round announcement.

Q.ANT: building a market for photonic processors
Q.ANT develops photonic processors for AI and high-performance computing. The company said its Series A would finance production scale-up, next-generation processor development, hiring and expansion in the US. Those plans point to a hardware commercialization challenge: developing the technology while building the capacity and organization to serve customers.
What changed after the 2025 announcements
Exein announced two subsequent fundraises
Exein announced an additional €100 million in December 2025 and said this brought its 2025 fundraising total to €170 million. On 15 September 2026, the company announced a $270 million raise at a stated $1.7 billion valuation. The latter funding and valuation figures are company-reported. They update Exein’s financing trajectory, but should not be conflated with the €70 million Series C announced in July 2025.

SiPearl was selected for consideration for a potential EU investment
On 28 July 2026, the European Commission listed SiPearl among six companies selected for potential investment through STEP Scale Up. The Commission said the six could receive a combined €97 million; that is not an individual award to SiPearl. Any investment remained subject to due diligence and successful negotiations, so the selection should not be described as a completed financing.
Q.ANT’s later financing status is not established here
The available information establishes the €62 million Series A announced in July 2025, but does not establish a subsequent Q.ANT financing announcement. The 2025 round is therefore the deal covered here, not necessarily the company’s most recent financing.

What these deals do—and do not—show about European scale-ups
Taken together, the announcements illustrate investment in three different parts of advanced computing: processor design, software security for connected devices, and photonic computing. Each company described a growth-oriented use for its capital, but the announced amounts alone do not show whether a product has reached broad adoption, how it performs against alternatives, or whether a business has become profitable. The available information does not provide comparable performance benchmarks or market-size figures.
Nor do the deals make these technologies ordinary consumer products. SiPearl’s processors and Q.ANT’s photonic hardware are aimed at specialist computing environments; Exein’s software is embedded in connected-device security. For a personal-finance reader, the useful distinction is between a financing announcement and a measure of business success: a large round can fund an attempt to scale, but it is not by itself proof of commercial results.
