Neither Parker-Hannifin nor Eaton is a clear winner for every investor. Parker is the closer fit if you want a diversified motion-and-control business spanning industrial and aerospace markets; Eaton is the closer fit if you want greater exposure to electrical power management, infrastructure and data centers. Their latest reported periods are not directly comparable, and the available figures do not establish which stock is cheaper. Your choice depends on the exposure you want and a same-date valuation check.
Which stock may fit your portfolio better?
Parker-Hannifin: motion and control across markets
Parker designs, manufactures and supports motion-and-control technologies used in aerospace and defense, industrial equipment, transportation, off-highway vehicles, energy, and HVAC and refrigeration. Its mix can suit an investor looking for industrial and aerospace exposure through one company. Its results can also be affected by changing manufacturing, transportation and air-travel conditions, among other factors. Parker’s FY2026 Form 10-K describes its business and risk factors.
Eaton: power management and electrical infrastructure
Eaton centers on power management, serving data centers, utilities, industry, buildings and machine builders, alongside aerospace and mobility businesses. Its exposure may better suit an investor focused on electrification and electrical infrastructure. The company’s 2025 annual report identifies electrification, digitalization, infrastructure spending and data-center demand as strategic drivers. Those drivers are not a guarantee of future results. Eaton’s 2025 annual report describes its business and strategy.
What do the latest results say—and what can’t they tell you?
Parker’s latest full-year results cover its fiscal year ended June 30, 2026. Eaton’s latest results here cover only its second quarter, also ended June 30, 2026. The figures below provide a snapshot of each company, not a like-for-like performance comparison.

| Management outlook | Parker forecast FY2027 as a record year, citing a broadening industrial recovery and expected positive organic growth across market verticals. This is management’s outlook, not a guaranteed result. | Eaton raised its FY2026 guidance to 11–13% organic growth and adjusted EPS of $13.40–$13.60. This is full-year management guidance, not a reported result, and can change. |
All Parker figures in the table are for FY2026; all Eaton results are for Q2 2026 unless marked as full-year guidance. The releases use different reporting periods and metric definitions, so do not treat the sales, margin or cash-flow figures as an apples-to-apples ranking. Parker’s August 6, 2026 release also reports nearly $2 billion returned to shareholders through repurchases and dividends in FY2026, and an 11% increase in its annual dividend for FY2026.
Where is Eaton’s growth coming from?
Eaton’s strong Q2 2026 organic growth is distinct from growth contributed by acquisitions: the company reported 14% organic sales growth and a further 7% contribution from acquisitions for that quarter. Its results release also reported 12-month rolling average order growth and year-over-year backlog growth at the end of June:
Rank #2
- Globally interchangeable with other manufacturer's couplings complying to ISO 7241 series B
- Multi-purpose coupling, widely used in varied applications
- Metal valve stop prevents flow checking to provide steady performance
- Brass couplers have double O-rings for redundant sealing and stainless steel locking balls for corrosion resistance
| Business reported by Eaton | 12-month rolling average order growth | Year-over-year backlog growth |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical Americas | 41% | 33% |
| Electrical Global | 33% | 103% |
| Aerospace | 17% | 28% |
These are company-reported segment measures in Eaton’s Q2 2026 release, with backlog growth measured year over year at the end of June. Order and backlog growth indicate demand recorded by the company; neither establishes how much revenue or profit will ultimately be realized. Eaton CEO Paulo Ruiz said in the July 31, 2026 release, “While data centers remain a key growth driver, we are benefiting from robust demand across our end markets.” That is management’s characterization of demand, not an independent forecast.
How do Eaton’s reported businesses compare by scale and margin?
Eaton’s 2025 annual report gives a calendar-year reference point for selected businesses. These figures predate the company’s 2026 segment reorganization, so they should not be read as the current segment structure or compared directly with the Q2 2026 measures above.
Rank #3
- Globally interchangeable with other manufacturer's couplings complying to ISO 7241 series B
- Multi-purpose coupling, widely used in varied applications
- Steel nipples have a hardened body for strength and durability
- Metal valve stop prevents flow checking to provide steady performance
| Eaton business, FY2025 | Net sales | Operating margin |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical Americas | $13.276 billion | 29.9% |
| Electrical Global | $6.815 billion | 19.4% |
| Aerospace | $4.249 billion | 23.9% |
Each figure is for Eaton’s fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, as reported in its 2025 annual report. Eaton reported total FY2025 revenue of $27.4 billion in that report. The different segment margins show why a company-wide margin alone can obscure the mix of businesses contributing to results.
What could change the investment case?
Parker: industrial cycles and integration
Parker’s FY2027 outlook depends in part on the company’s expectation of a broadening recovery in industrial markets. Its Form 10-K identifies sensitivity to market conditions and customer and distributor orders, as well as manufacturing and air-travel trends. It also lists risks involving raw materials, labor and supply chains, trade policy, currency and interest rates, cybersecurity and geopolitical conditions. Acquisition integration is another execution factor. These risks can affect results even when the company’s product and end-market mix is broad.
Rank #4
- Globally interchangeable with other manufacturer's couplings complying to ISO 7241 series B
- Multi-purpose coupling, widely used in varied applications
- Metal valve stop prevents flow checking to provide steady performance
- Brass couplers have double O-rings for redundant sealing and stainless steel locking balls for corrosion resistance
Eaton: strong demand alongside uneven markets
Eaton’s 2025 annual report describes strength in data-center and electrical markets alongside weaker vehicle and eMobility markets, illustrating that a varied portfolio can still contain businesses at different points in their cycles. Eaton’s Q2 2026 release also identifies end-market volatility, acquisition integration, input and labor availability, tariffs, cybersecurity and geopolitical conditions as risks.
Eaton has announced a plan to separate Mobility through a Reverse Morris Trust transaction, which it expected to close in Q1 2027, subject to conditions. The transaction was planned, not completed, in the company’s Q2 2026 results release. Its completion and timing remain uncertain.

How to compare the shares before deciding
Business fit and operating results do not settle whether either share is attractively priced. The company releases and annual reports cited here do not provide a matched-date comparison of share price, market capitalization or valuation multiples. Check both companies using the same date and data provider, and make sure the measures you compare use consistent periods and definitions.
Quick Recap
- Compare price and market capitalization as of the same date.
- Choose a consistent earnings measure—such as trailing GAAP earnings or forward adjusted earnings—and use it for both stocks. Label estimates as estimates and distinguish them from reported results.
- Consider cash generation, debt and capital returns alongside earnings multiples; avoid treating an adjusted margin or EPS figure as a GAAP measure.
- Assess whether adding either stock would increase concentration in industries or end markets already prominent in your portfolio.
- Use each company’s investor-relations materials for its latest filings and updates: Eaton investor relations and Parker-Hannifin financial results.
