That suggests a used LC 500 may cost less to enter, but it does not establish a universal affordability threshold or a precise depreciation rate: the figures cover different model years and use different pricing measures.
What does a used Lexus LC 500 cost?
Edmunds lists an estimated retail value of $88,476 for a 2024 LC 500 coupe. The estimate is a valuation, not a guarantee of what a particular seller will accept or what a buyer will pay. Edmunds says values vary with region, condition, mileage, and options. Edmunds’ 2024 LC valuation also separates retail, private-party, and trade-in estimates; those figures describe different sale contexts and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Keep the body style and powertrain attached to any price comparison. Edmunds’ 2024 estimates put the convertible at $93,044 retail and the LC 500h hybrid at $93,008 retail. The hybrid is a distinct model, not the V8 LC 500.
How does that compare with a new LC 500?
Lexus announced a $101,800 starting MSRP for the 2026 LC 500 coupe, including delivery, processing, and handling. Its 2026 LC 500 Convertible starts at $109,300 on the same stated basis. These are manufacturer’s suggested prices, not dealer transaction prices. The comparison with Edmunds’ 2024 coupe estimate indicates a lower cited entry figure for a used example, but it is not a like-for-like depreciation calculation: the model years and pricing measures differ. Lexus’ 2026 LC announcement describes the coupe as powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8.

Launch pricing provides context, but not a direct measure of today’s value. Lexus announced the 2018 LC 500 at a $92,000 starting MSRP, before a $995 delivery, processing, and handling fee. The launch model had a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 rated at 471 horsepower and 398 lb.-ft. of torque. Lexus later announced a $93,050 starting MSRP for the 2022 LC 500, before a $1,075 delivery, processing, and handling fee. Those historical MSRPs do not account for inflation, options, or current market values. Lexus’ January 2017 announcement about the 2018 model and its 2022 model announcement provide the original context.
How much does depreciation tell you about affordability?
Depreciation lowers the purchase price relative to a new car, but it is only one part of the budget. Kelley Blue Book estimates five-year depreciation of $61,704 for a 2025 Lexus LC 500 and five-year out-of-pocket costs of $72,897. KBB’s displayed cost categories include fuel, insurance, financing, state fees, maintenance, and repairs. These are estimates, not guaranteed future costs, and depend on the assumptions behind the calculation. See KBB’s 2025 LC cost-to-own estimate.

Edmunds’ True Cost to Own estimates also include depreciation, insurance, financing, taxes and fees, fuel, maintenance, and repairs. Its methodology says mileage-dependent costs assume 15,000 miles per year. To compare ownership-cost estimates, match the trim, mileage, region, financing assumptions, and provider methodology; an estimate from one source is not a universal cost. Edmunds’ True Cost to Own methodology explains its categories and assumptions.

- Match the vehicle: confirm model year, V8 LC 500 versus LC 500h hybrid, and coupe versus convertible.
- Compare like prices: distinguish a seller’s asking price or retail valuation from a private-party or trade-in estimate.
- Assess the example: consider mileage, title and accident history, maintenance records, condition, equipment, and warranty status.
- Build a personal budget: include an insurance quote for the exact car and your location, financing, fuel use, taxes and fees, maintenance, and a reserve for possible repairs.
The cited figures do not establish current transaction prices across model years, mileage bands, and regions, nor do they provide model-specific reliability rates or a complete inspection checklist. Have a particular car’s condition and records evaluated before buying; Lexus branding alone is not evidence of low repair risk.
