What “free” means for this game
The listings distinguish three kinds of access:
- Free to keep: A promotion that lets you claim the game without paying and retain it. The EA, Steam and Epic pages reviewed did not show this kind of offer when checked on October 4, 2026. EA, Steam and Epic Games Store showed paid purchase or subscription routes.
- Included with EA Play: The stores listed EA Play access, but EA Play is a paid subscription, not a free copy. Access through a subscription is not ownership; do not count on continued access if the subscription ends.
- Discounted purchase: A sale reduces the cost of buying the game, but it is not a free offer.
These are storefront conditions observed on October 4, 2026, and they can change. Check the official store for your country before paying; prices, discounts and subscription catalogs may vary by region and over time.

Which Need for Speed: Most Wanted is listed?
The official PC listings identify the 2012 game, released October 30, 2012—not the separate 2005 game that shares the Most Wanted name. EA and Steam list the 2012 release date; Steam identifies Criterion Games as developer and Electronic Arts as publisher. EA and Steam.

What you need to use the official PC listings
Buying or accessing the game digitally involves more than a payment method: account linking and EA software may be required. Steam’s listing says EA online activation and the EA client are required, along with linked EA and Steam accounts. Epic says the EA App and linked EA and Epic accounts are required. Check the relevant store’s requirements before purchase, especially if you do not want to install or use another launcher.
Publisher-stated system requirements
EA lists these requirements for the PC version. They are the publisher’s specifications, not a guarantee that the game will run well on every computer meeting them. EA system requirements.
