No: Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 were not available during Amazon’s July 2023 Prime Day. Amazon scheduled that U.S. event for July 11–12, while Apple announced both watches in September. The discounts later reported for the new models were launch-day offers and October Prime Big Deal Days prices—not July Prime Day deals.
Why the July 2023 Prime Day title is misleading
Amazon announced that its U.S. Prime Day event would begin at 3 a.m. EDT on July 11 and run through July 12, 2023. The event included deals for Prime members, as well as invite-only offers and deal alerts. Its dates are documented in Amazon’s June 20 announcement.
Apple did not announce Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 until September 12. Ultra 2 store availability began September 22, according to Apple’s announcement. The chronology rules out either watch being a July Prime Day 2023 offer.
What Amazon discounts were reported after launch?
September 22 launch-day prices
On September 22, MacRumors reported Amazon discounts of $9 on Series 9 and $19 on Ultra 2. Its Series 9 examples were GPS aluminum models at $389.99 for 41 mm, down from $399, and $419.99 for 45 mm, down from $429. Cellular aluminum models were listed at $489.99 for 41 mm, down from $499, and $519.99 for 45 mm, down from $529. These are dated price snapshots, not current offers. Some Ultra 2 models were temporarily out of stock at the discounted price. See MacRumors’ launch-day report.

October Prime Big Deal Days prices
The more relevant Prime-event discounts came during Amazon’s October Prime Big Deal Days, not July Prime Day. MacRumors reported Ultra 2 at about $749 on October 10, compared with its $799 U.S. price, and described that as a new low at the time. That was a historical snapshot. Read the October 10 report.
A separate TechRadar article, published October 9 on the eve of the event, listed Series 9 GPS 41 mm at $389.99 and Ultra 2 at $774. Those figures are from a different date and report, so they should not be combined with the October 10 snapshot or treated as a single set of matched prices. TechRadar’s October 9 report gives its dated examples.

How to compare historical Apple Watch prices
A price is useful only when the listing configuration and date are clear. For Series 9, compare models with the same case size, connectivity, material, and band. The September examples above are aluminum models; they do not establish the price of stainless-steel configurations or every band option.
- Case size: Series 9 examples include 41 mm and 45 mm. Do not compare their prices as if they were the same model.
- Connectivity: GPS and cellular versions are different configurations; the September report lists separate prices for each.
- Material and band: Aluminum and stainless-steel cases, as well as band configurations, affect which listing is comparable.
- Sale date and availability: Keep the date attached to every quoted price, and note that stock at a discounted price may vary.
Ultra 2 is a 49 mm watch with band options including Alpine Loop, Trail Loop, and Ocean Band, according to Apple. Compare the exact listing and band configuration, and measure any discount against the same model’s stated U.S. price rather than a different listing.

What the watches offered at launch
Apple listed Ultra 2 at $799 in the U.S. at launch. The company said it uses the S9 SiP and highlighted double tap, on-device Siri, Precision Finding for iPhone, and an improved display. Apple also claimed 36 hours of regular-use battery life and up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode; these are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. See Apple’s product announcement.

The cited reports describe prices from September and October 2023 and do not establish a current deal. Before buying, check the exact model and size, seller, stock, return terms, and price shown on the live Amazon listing. A page framed as “Prime Day 2023” is not proof that a listed price was available during the July event: for example, AppleInsider’s page with that framing refers in its body to 2024 and displays updated price links. AppleInsider’s deals page is not evidence of a July 2023 offer.
