U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $134.5 million in net inflows on September 25, 2026—but that was not an October trading day. The first U.S. ETF trading session of October, October 1, also finished positive, with $102.7 million in net inflows after $148.7 million in outflows on September 30.

What the $134.5 million figure covers

The $134.5 million refers to net inflows into U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs on Friday, September 25, according to The Block, citing SoSoValue data. It was the fifth session of a week in which the funds received about $2.4 billion in net inflows. The daily total had declined over that week from $999.0 million on Monday.

These figures describe aggregate ETF flows, not direct purchases of Bitcoin by all investors. Net inflows are the amount flowing into the funds after outflows are accounted for; they do not, by themselves, show why investors acted or how the Bitcoin price responded.

Did ETF inflows start October in the green?

Yes. The first U.S. ETF trading session of October was Thursday, October 1, when U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs had $102.7 million in net inflows, reported by Cointelegraph citing SoSoValue. The immediately preceding session, September 30, had seen $148.7 million in net outflows. So October opened with a positive session after a negative one—not an uninterrupted run of positive daily flows.

How September and the year-to-date picture looked

The Block reported that U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in approximately $2.65 billion net during September. The late-September weekly inflows also brought reported 2026 year-to-date net flows to about $934.1 million positive. That marked a sharp reversal from a reported year-to-date deficit of roughly $5.8 billion as recently as July 13.

Those totals put the September 25 daily figure in context: it was one day in a much larger positive week and month, rather than the whole story. Flow totals can change from session to session, and a positive aggregate does not establish that every fund or every investor saw inflows.

Does “Uptober” mean Bitcoin is likely to rise?

No. “Uptober” is a crypto-market nickname, not a forecast. Crypto.com reports that Bitcoin closed higher in 10 of the last 13 Octobers, with an average gain of almost 20% across that period. That is an attributed historical summary, not a guarantee for October 2026; past monthly performance does not establish what will happen next, and the underlying annual-return series is not provided in that report.

ETF flows and seasonal history are only pieces of market context. Bitcoin’s price can move for many reasons, and the reported flow figures do not establish that ETF inflows caused a price change. Crypto.com identifies fund flows, Bitcoin’s price behavior, Federal Reserve expectations and Treasury yields as factors worth watching, but not as a tested formula for predicting returns.

What investors can take from the figures

  • Keep the dates straight: $134.5 million was the September 25 net inflow; October 1’s net inflow was $102.7 million.
  • Read flows as flows: they indicate aggregate fund activity, not a certain direction for Bitcoin’s price.
  • Treat seasonality as context: the historical October pattern does not promise a repeat.
