Charter’s CFO transition does not announce a change to Spectrum prices, plans, or service. Jessica Fischer is scheduled to step down on October 15, 2026, when Kevin Howard is scheduled to become interim CFO. Charter said its financial outlook and financial policy were unchanged in the announcement. The more immediate changes for Spectrum customers stem from Charter’s separate Cox integration, especially for people in former Cox markets.
Is Spectrum changing because Charter’s CFO is leaving?
Charter announced on August 31, 2026, that CFO Jessica Fischer would step down on October 15 to relocate for another professional opportunity. Kevin Howard was named interim CFO effective that date, and Charter said it would begin a comprehensive search for a permanent replacement immediately. Charter CEO Chris Winfrey said Fischer had been a key part of the executive team since joining Charter nearly 10 years earlier and becoming CFO in 2021.
The announcement did not say that the transition would change Spectrum customer prices, plans, or service. Charter said its previously provided financial outlook and financial policy were unchanged. That is not a promise that an individual bill will remain fixed: the announcement simply does not establish what will happen to any customer’s account. Check direct account notices for personal plan or billing changes.
What changed at Charter, and when?
- August 20, 2026: Charter completed its Cox transaction and acquisition of Liberty Broadband. It said it planned to change the parent company name to Cox Communications within a year while continuing to operate as Spectrum.
- August 31, 2026: Charter announced the CFO transition, scheduled to take effect October 15.
- September 16, 2026: Spectrum products, packaging, and pricing became available in former Cox markets on Spectrum Day.
- Over 18 months after the transaction: Charter said it would return Cox’s customer-service function to the United States. Its announcements do not give each customer’s migration date or spell out how every local support process will change.
- Within a year after the transaction: Charter plans to change its parent-company name to Cox Communications. The plan describes a corporate name change, not an immediate replacement of Spectrum as the consumer-facing brand.
What changes for former Cox customers?
Former Cox customers have a separate transition to follow; it is not an effect Charter attributed to the CFO change. Spectrum offers became available in former Cox markets on September 16, 2026. Charter also described one year of free mobile service for eligible former Cox internet customers who did not already subscribe to Cox Mobile. Eligibility and account-specific terms are not universal, so confirm them with Spectrum rather than assuming every former Cox internet customer qualifies.

- Does NOT include Wi-Fi and Does NOT support cable digital voice service.

- 32 downstream x 8 upstream DOCSIS 3.0 bonded channels, or 2 downstream x 2 upstream OFDM DOCSIS 3.1 channels.
- Two 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports
The support integration will take time. Charter described an 18-month period for returning Cox customer service to the United States and said former Cox markets would receive Spectrum’s Customer Commitment in the future. Those statements describe plans, not proof that the transition or commitment is already in place in every market. Charter has not published a single account-by-account migration schedule in the announcements summarized here.
Does Charter’s name change mean Spectrum will become Cox?
No such consumer-brand change was announced. Charter said it plans to rename the parent company Cox Communications within a year of the August 20 transaction while continuing to operate as Spectrum. The corporate name and the brand customers see are distinct: based on the announced plan, Spectrum remains the consumer-facing brand.

What do Charter’s customer numbers say about the impact?
Charter reported 31.5 million customer relationships as of June 30, 2026, before the August transactions were completed. Its second-quarter release also reported 29.4 million Internet customers, 12.5 million mobile lines, and 12.5 million video customers as of that date. These are company-reported figures, not independent measures of service quality or evidence that the CFO transition caused customer gains or losses.
Those company-wide results cannot establish what will happen to an individual customer’s bill, service quality, or plan. Charter’s CFO announcement named no expected customer effects, and its general quarterly figures do not fill that gap.

What Spectrum customers should watch for
- Established Spectrum markets: The announcements do not identify a customer-facing change tied to the CFO transition. Use account notices for any specific plan or billing update.
- Former Cox markets: Check current Spectrum offers and eligibility for the mobile promotion, and look for local updates about customer support and the Customer Commitment.
- All customers: Treat the planned parent-company renaming as a corporate change unless Charter announces a separate change to the Spectrum brand or your service.
Charter says it competes across its products by aiming to offer strong products, overall value, and service. That stated strategy is not a guarantee of a particular price or service outcome for an individual account.
