BolsaBuddy is the more focused fit if you want a locally run daily view of Mexico’s IPC index and a watchlist that pairs prices with your own investment thesis. It is not a brokerage app. If you want to see an account portfolio and place trades, compare brokerages such as GBM and Actinver Trade; for BMV issuer and fund information without a stated trading function, consider the exchange’s Bolsapp. The better choice depends on whether you want market context, exchange information, or an account you can trade through.
What BolsaBuddy does
In a project post published October 3, 2026, creator Ssolidssnake9 describes BolsaBuddy as a free, fully local daily tracker for Mexico’s IPC index (^MXX). Its stated workflow fetches daily data from Yahoo Finance, calculates day change, 20-, 50-, and 200-day moving averages, distance from the 52-week high, streaks, and all-time-high alerts, then displays a phone-readable HTML page with a plain-language brief. The creator also describes a watchlist that puts a live price beside a saved thesis and a price-based “kill-trigger.” These are creator-described functions, not independently tested results. Read the creator’s project description.
The creator says the free Yahoo Finance daily feed includes IPC history back to 1991. The available information does not establish a precise delay, equivalence to an exchange feed, data completeness, licensing suitability, or investment value. Treat it as a daily market-context tool, not verified real-time exchange data. A sample brief in the post is dated October 1, 2026; its quoted figures are historical examples, not current market prices.
The project grew from a request for something simple rather than a subscription dashboard. Ssolidssnake9 wrote: “A friend wanted an investing tool for the Mexican market. Not a dashboard with a subscription. Something simple: what did the IPC do today, am I near a high, and a plain-English line about it.” The quote appears in the creator’s DEV Community post.
#1 Best Overall
- As a day trader, you can live and work anywhere in the world. You can decide when to work and when not to work.
- You only answer to yourself. That is the life of the successful day trader. Many people aspire to it, but very few succeed. Day trading is not gambling or an online poker game.
- To be successful at day trading you need the right tools and you need to be motivated, to work hard, and to persevere.
How BolsaBuddy differs from Mexican apps
| App | Stated role and features | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| BolsaBuddy | Daily IPC tracking, calculated trend and high-related indicators, a generated plain-language brief, and a thesis-aware watchlist, according to its creator. | The available description does not establish broker-account connections or order placement, quote timing beyond daily data, or independent accuracy and reliability. |
| BMV Bolsapp | The Mexican Stock Exchange’s information and education app. Its listing describes favorite stocks, graphs and indicators, issuer information, information about brokerage houses, and ways to compare or bookmark BMV-listed investment funds. The listing showed an update date of August 25, 2026. See the app listing. | The cited listing does not say that Bolsapp executes trades. |
| GBM | GBM says its app and web platform support investment-account management and trading across local and international markets, with portfolio performance and multiple investment products. Its product page advertises more than 6,000 instruments and account opening from $100 MXN; these are vendor claims and may change. See GBM’s product page. | The advertised instrument count and starting amount do not establish that every instrument is available to every customer or that $100 MXN covers a particular investment or account condition. |
| Actinver Trade | Now called Actinver Trade, the app was formerly Bursanet. Its App Store listing describes portfolio balance, movement history, buying power, trading in stocks and ETFs, funds, currencies and CETES, real-time alerts, and educational material. See the App Store listing. | These are vendor-described features, not an independent assessment of usability, reliability, or quote freshness for every instrument. |
Actinver’s product page also describes a broader instrument range and educational tools. It says its content is informational, not a personalized recommendation; an alert or educational feature should not be mistaken for individualized investment advice. See Actinver’s product information.
Choose by the job you need done
For a quick daily read on the IPC
BolsaBuddy is the closest match among these options if your question is what the IPC did and where it sits relative to the indicators in its brief. Its described focus is one index, rather than a view of all your holdings. Because the stated input is daily data, check the data timing before relying on it for decisions that depend on an intraday quote.
For BMV-listed company and fund information
Bolsapp is the exchange-published option described for following favorite stocks, exploring issuers, and looking at listed funds. That makes it a market-information comparator, not a substitute for a broker on the evidence available here.
For a portfolio you can trade
GBM and Actinver Trade are brokerage choices when you need account-linked holdings and trading functions. GBM describes account management and trading across local and international markets. Actinver describes balances, movement history, buying power, and trading features. Compare each brokerage’s current instrument availability and account terms for your needs; advertised breadth alone does not identify the best account for you.

What to compare before choosing
- Purpose: Is your priority daily IPC context, information about BMV issuers and funds, or managing and trading an investment account?
- Coverage: BolsaBuddy is described around the IPC; Bolsapp around BMV issuers and listed funds; brokerages around the markets and instruments available in their accounts.
- Freshness: BolsaBuddy is described as using daily data. Check the current quote timing for the specific app, market, and instrument before treating any displayed value as live.
- Portfolio connection: BolsaBuddy’s described watchlist is its own thesis list. Actinver describes account balance, transaction history, and buying power, while GBM describes portfolio management.
- Trading: Watching a stock is not the same as holding it in an account or being able to place an order. Confirm that the app offers the trading function you need.
- Account terms and support: For a brokerage, review current fees, account conditions, available instruments, customer support, and whether the interface works for you before opening or funding an account.
There is no independent head-to-head evidence here for app speed, interface quality, tracking accuracy, security, or customer support, so those qualities cannot be ranked reliably. A Reddit commenter seeking a beginner brokerage asked for “una app que tenga una interfaz sencilla y que esté regulada por la CNBV.” That is one person’s phrasing, not survey evidence or an assessment of any app’s regulatory status. See the comment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which one is better?
For a free, local daily IPC view with a personal thesis list, BolsaBuddy may suit the task described by its creator. For BMV issuer and fund information, Bolsapp is the exchange app in this comparison. For account management and trading, compare GBM and Actinver Trade against the markets you need, their current account terms, quote timing, fees, interface, and support. The available descriptions establish advertised roles and features, but do not support a universal winner or a comparative performance ranking.
