Margi Tooth is Trupanion’s president and chief executive officer. She succeeded founder Darryl Rawlings on August 1, 2024, after more than a decade with the Seattle-based pet insurer in marketing and revenue leadership roles. The company says the change followed a multi-year, board-led succession process; Rawlings remained board chair.
Who is Margi Tooth?
Tooth leads Trupanion, which provides medical insurance for cats and dogs. The company’s current leadership page and its 2026 proxy statement identify her as president and CEO. “New CEO” refers to her appointment in 2024, rather than a recent change in leadership.
Trupanion’s biography says Tooth grew up on a farm and once dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. In the company’s 2026 proxy biography, Tooth described growing up among farm animals and pets. These are details from company materials, not independently reported biographical findings.
How did Tooth reach the CEO role?
Before Trupanion
Before joining Trupanion in 2013, Tooth spent more than seven years in brand, customer and digital marketing for a UK pet insurer. Trupanion’s biography does not name that insurer, so it cannot be identified from the company’s published account.

- YOUR PURCHASE HELPS A DOG RESCUE: For every dog bowl sold, we donate a dog bowl to a dog rescue. Dog rescues are in constant need of dog supplies. We donate 1 for 1 for every bowl purchase. By purchasing one of our dog bowls, you receive a premium high quality stainless steel dog bowl and you donate one to a rescue. Together we can support dog rescues with a never ending supply of supplies.
- DOG RESCUES: Each month we donate to different rescues throughout the USA. At the end of every month, we tally up the number of products sold. Based on the number, we determine how many rescues we can donate to for that month. We donate down our list of rescues until each one has received a donation and then we go back to the top of our list. In special cases, we will donate to rescues out of turn based on their immediate needs.
- QUALITY STAINLESS STEEL: Our dog bowls are made from high quality 204 thick stainless steel. They are thicker and heavier than other bowls. The small bowl weighs 9 oz, the medium bowl weighs 16 oz and the large bowl weighs 1.2 lbs. Our bowls are independently lab tested and free of heavy metals.
- FULL NON-SKID RUBBER BOTTOM: All bowls have a full rubber bottom, not just a rubber ring on the outside. Because of this and the fact that they are heavier, they are harder for dogs to flip and push across the floor.
In the appointment announcement, Tooth said, “It’s an honor to lead Trupanion as CEO.”

- FINALLY OUR PETS CAN HIT PAUSE TOO: This is more than a pet bowl. Mora is Latin for "Pause", acting as a reminder to slow down your busy life. Pets deserve a calming environment, and our Mora products can help them have that. Modern shapes and clean lines convey a sense of calm in humans, which in turn reflects on the behavior and personalities of our fur babies.
- LEAD FREE ALL NATURAL GLAZE: We know that lead is a poison, but what some of us don't know is that it is in a lot of ceramic glazes since there is no US regulation for lead in pet products. Unlike other ceramic companies, our glazes are lead free, meaning you will never have to worry about lead leaching into your pet's system and making them sick. Since our glaze is all-natural, it tends to change color depending on the lighting. The color may be a tad different from what you see on your screen.
- ROUNDED INSIDE CORNERS FOR ERGONOMIC FEEDING: Some pets struggle to get the food out of the corners of their bowl, sometimes leaving uneaten residue on the edges. Our bowl was designed for every fur baby, making sure their feeding experience is enjoyable, comfortable, and functional. Our bowls are always microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe.
- CERAMIC WITH 20% STRONGER PALADIN CLAY: Our clay was refined and fired with you in mind. Only we have Paladin Clay which is 20% stronger than the competitors, giving you a stronger and more durable ceramic bowl. The heavier bottom gives a sturdy base for even the most excited pets.
- MORA’S PROMISE: We provide a free refund or replacement for any defective products, anytime. Just let us know what happened. We offer daily customer service because you are important to us. Our objective is to help you hit pause, so we won’t settle for anything you don’t love. We’re not happy unless you are.❤
