Yes—but only eligible Stars earned through Telegram monetization can generally be withdrawn for a TON-related crypto reward. Telegram does not offer a universal cash-out for Stars bought in a personal account. Its withdrawal route, announced in June 2024, hands eligible creators off to Fragment to provide a TON wallet address. The amount and availability depend on Telegram’s current settings and the live quote.
What Telegram Stars are—and are not
Telegram Stars are virtual items used within Telegram, not a cryptocurrency or a token on the TON blockchain. Telegram introduced Stars on June 6, 2024, for purchases of digital goods and services in bots and Mini Apps. They are also used for paid photos and videos, Star Reactions and other creator-support features, and some Telegram purchases and gifts. Telegram’s Stars announcement describes the launch.
For digital goods sold inside Telegram bots and Mini Apps, Telegram requires payment in Stars rather than direct cryptocurrency payments, reflecting app-store payment rules. Physical goods and services follow different rules. Telegram’s Bot Payments documentation explains the distinction.
TON is the separate blockchain network and crypto asset involved in the creator payout. Telegram’s 2024 announcement describes rewards in Toncoin; some current API schema uses “Gram” terminology. That wording does not make Stars themselves a blockchain asset or establish a separate coin. Telegram’s announcement and its Stars API documentation describe the payout mechanics.

Which Stars may be withdrawn?
The key distinction is whether the balance was earned through an eligible creator or developer feature, rather than purchased to spend in Telegram. Telegram’s documented withdrawal method applies to a channel or bot balance controlled by its owner; it is not a general exchange for every user’s personal Star balance.

Telegram’s API says only the owner can invoke the documented withdrawal method for a channel or bot, and that server-controlled settings govern whether withdrawals are available. The API documentation does not establish a universal redemption path for purchased Stars. Telegram’s rules for digital-goods payments likewise describe Stars as the in-app payment unit, not a user cash-out balance. See the payments documentation.
How the official withdrawal flow works
Telegram’s documented flow produces a unique Fragment page for the relevant channel or bot balance. The recipient supplies a TON wallet address there. Menu labels and availability can differ by client, account type, geography, and server-side rollout, so treat these as the functional steps rather than guaranteed button names.

- Earn Stars through an eligible channel, bot, Mini App, or creator feature. Select the account that actually owns the balance.
- Open its monetization or revenue area in Telegram and check whether the balance is marked withdrawable and the withdrawal option is enabled.
- Start the withdrawal and complete Telegram’s requested two-step verification password check. Do not enter that password on a site reached through an unsolicited message or third-party bot.
- Use the unique Fragment link returned by Telegram. Confirm that the domain is fragment.com, then provide a TON-compatible wallet address.
- Review the quoted payout and confirm only if the amount, destination, and terms are acceptable. Keep the confirmation and transaction details while the payout processes.
Telegram’s API describes the Fragment handoff, wallet-address step, and two-factor authentication requirement. Read the API details. Fragment is the withdrawal destination referenced by Telegram; it is not interchangeable with a Telegram in-app Wallet or an independent Stars-conversion bot.
Waiting period, minimum balance, and conversion rate
Waiting period
Telegram says Stars earned through Star Messages can be withdrawn 21 days after they are earned. That figure is documented for that earning flow, so do not assume every category follows an identical schedule. Telegram’s Star Messages announcement gives the 21-day period.
Minimum balance
A TON ecosystem explainer reports a 1,000-Star minimum and the same 21-day wait. Telegram’s API, however, describes minimum and maximum withdrawal values as configuration-controlled, not as a permanent universal threshold. Treat 1,000 Stars as a reported threshold, not a guarantee for every account, region, or revenue category. See the TON explainer and Telegram’s API documentation.

Rate and final amount
There is no reliable permanent public “one Star equals X TON” rate to use for planning. Telegram’s API ties the payout to the monetary value Telegram assigns to Stars and refers to a configurable USD withdrawal rate. The final amount may depend on Telegram’s current quote and applicable service or network conditions. Check the withdrawal screen before confirming rather than converting the balance with a static online formula. Telegram documents the rate mechanics here.
After you receive TON: crypto is not the same as cash
A Stars withdrawal delivers a crypto reward to a wallet; it does not promise a bank transfer, PayPal payment, or fixed dollar value. If you want fiat, you would need to use a separate wallet, exchange, or other service that supports TON and is available to you. That step can involve market-price changes, fees, identity checks, geographic restrictions, and applicable tax and accounting obligations.

- Check all fees and the net amount before transferring or selling; a wallet, network, exchange, or intermediary may have separate costs.
- Save Telegram revenue records, withdrawal confirmations, TON transaction IDs, and the fiat value at receipt and at any later sale. Tax treatment depends on jurisdiction; consult a qualified professional for advice about your circumstances.
Telegram also describes using eligible Stars for Telegram Ads as an alternative to withdrawing them. This converts the balance into advertising spend, not cash or a transferable crypto asset. Telegram’s announcement and the Stars API cover the rewards and advertising option.

Stars, Fragment, wallets, and third-party bots
- Telegram Stars: virtual in-app payment and reward units. They are not TON or Toncoin.
- Fragment: the official withdrawal handoff Telegram’s API references for eligible Star revenue, as well as a destination for some collectible-gift functions.
- TON wallet: the crypto destination specified in the withdrawal flow. Telegram’s documentation calls for a TON wallet address; it does not establish that a particular wallet app is required.
- Telegram Wallet or TON Space: wallet infrastructure distinct from the Fragment handoff. Do not assume it is required for every withdrawal.
- Third-party conversion bots or sites: separate commercial services, not automatically endorsed by Telegram and not equivalent to the documented Fragment route.
Telegram warns users to be cautious with third-party bots that process payments and says it does not maintain or endorse such bots. A service may charge a spread, ask you to transfer Stars before showing a firm quote, delay payment, or expose you to custody and fraud risks. Never share your Telegram login code or two-step verification password with one. Telegram’s payment documentation includes the warning.

Converting a received gift into Stars is a different operation from withdrawing earned Star revenue. Telegram’s API says gift conversion destroys the gift and adds the specified number of Stars to the user’s balance; the returned amount can be below the gift’s purchase price, and conversion is subject to a time window and other restrictions. Telegram’s Gifts API and the gift-conversion method describe the rules.
Some collectible gifts can be exported to the TON blockchain through Fragment under separate rules. That export path does not turn every gift into cash or make a regular personal Star balance withdrawable. See Telegram’s Gifts API.

Troubleshooting a missing or failed withdrawal
No withdrawal option appears
Check the type of balance and the account selected before assuming the app is broken. Telegram’s server-controlled withdrawal status and thresholds mean the option may be absent when the balance is purchased rather than earned, the user is not the channel or bot owner, the applicable wait has not elapsed, the balance is below the configured minimum, or withdrawal is unavailable for that account, revenue category, or region. An outdated client or staged rollout may also matter. Telegram’s API describes these controls.
The Fragment page opens, but payout does not complete
Check that you are using the correct Telegram account, have completed the requested two-step verification, and entered a wallet address that supports the relevant TON asset. Confirm the page is on the official Fragment domain. Then check withdrawal history before trying again: Telegram’s transaction model includes pending and failed states, so a request may not have reached a final outcome yet. Keep the transaction record and avoid repeatedly submitting the same withdrawal without checking its status. Telegram’s transaction documentation describes the states.
A bot promises instant Stars-to-crypto conversion
That is not the same as Telegram’s native withdrawal. Before using any independent service, consider its fees, custody terms, settlement record, privacy practices, and whether it requires you to transfer Stars before displaying a verifiable quote. Do not trust an unofficial Fragment lookalike, disclose account credentials, or assume Telegram will recover Stars sent to a third party.
