No. The current .si Registry rules do not set a general requirement for a Slovenian address or trademark documents to register a domain. They do require accurate holder identity and contact data, and registrars verify at least one contact method. Extra identity or address checks may apply in risk-flagged cases.
Do .si domains require local contact details or trademark documentation?
The Registry’s General Terms and Conditions, dated 15 November 2024, require holder information but do not state that the address must be in Slovenia. They also do not list trademark documentation as a routine registration prerequisite.
What address does the Registry require?
An individual holder must provide a permanent residence address. An organisation must provide its registered office. These are required identity fields, not a stated local-presence eligibility rule. The Registry-wide terms do not establish that a foreign applicant needs a Slovenian address.
Do you have to submit trademark proof?
No trademark paperwork is identified as a standard condition for registering a .si domain. Trademark rights can become relevant if a dispute arises, but that is separate from the ordinary registration process.
What contact and identity checks can apply?
Routine contact verification
At registration and renewal, the registrar verifies either the holder’s email address or telephone number. The Registry data policy also makes the holder responsible for accurate, current data. It states: “The domain holder guarantees that the data in the database is accurate and up to date and undertakes to notify the registrar of any changes immediately”. The registered contact email is the official communication channel.
Risk-based identity and address checks
A registrar may request further proof when its risk analysis flags a registration. Checks can include confirming identity and postal address, such as by requesting identity documents or checking a business register; they are not described as universal prerequisites for every applicant.

If verification fails
The Registry policy allows up to 21 days to correct unsuccessful contact verification. If risk-based identity or address proof is requested, an additional deadline of up to 21 days may apply. A domain may be deactivated or deleted if verification remains unsuccessful.
Who can see the registration data?
Public display depends on holder type. For a natural-person holder, the public database shows only the contact email. Further information may be disclosed for justified reasons, including a legal-rights claim or a domain dispute.

How to prepare to register a .si domain
- Choose the holder type. Be ready to provide a permanent residence address for an individual or the registered office for an organisation.
- Use a monitored contact method. Provide an email address or telephone number that can be verified, and keep the registered email accessible for official communications.
- Keep your data current. Notify the registrar promptly if holder or contact information changes.
- Check the registrar’s signup process. Registrars act as agents between end users and the Registry, and their workflows may differ. A provider may ask for information beyond the Registry-wide baseline; confirm its current requirements before submitting an application.
Can a foreigner register a .si domain?
The cited Registry-wide requirements establish identity and address fields, not a general Slovenian-local-address condition. They therefore do not establish that foreign applicants are barred for lacking a Slovenian address. A chosen registrar’s own process may involve additional requests, so check directly with that registrar.
