Deal status: The “up to $149 off” promotion was an Amazon deal reported on January 31, 2026, for the weekend of January 31–February 1. It is not verified as live on August 18, 2026. At the time, the lowest reported price was $899 for the 11-inch, 256GB Wi‑Fi model, while three 13-inch Wi‑Fi configurations were listed at $149 below Apple’s launch prices. Which configuration was the best value?

Lowest entry price: 11-inch, 256GB Wi‑Fi

At a reported $899, this was the least expensive way into the M5 iPad Pro family. It suits buyers who mainly browse, stream, take notes, draw, or use cloud storage and do not need a large offline library.

Largest headline discount: 13-inch Wi‑Fi models

The 13-inch 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations each showed $149 in reported savings. The 256GB model at $1,149.99 was the most approachable of the three if you specifically want the larger display.

Most storage savings: 11-inch, 2TB Wi‑Fi

The reported $148 reduction on the 2TB model was nearly the maximum dollar discount, but the tablet still cost $1,851. Storage-heavy buyers should compare that premium with external or cloud storage rather than treating the biggest reduction as the best overall deal.

Specialized option: nano-texture glass

The 1TB nano-texture 11-inch model reportedly saved $123. Nano-texture can help in glare-heavy environments, but it costs more than standard glass and is not automatically a better choice for indoor use or for someone planning to install a screen protector.

Was it really a record-low price?

MacRumors described the 11-inch 256GB price as returning to a low price and said several 13-inch prices matched or approached tracked holiday lows. That is different from proving an all-time low for every configuration: the report did not publish a complete price-history chart or independent methodology.

Forum comments included an anecdotal claim that $899 for the 11-inch model had appeared repeatedly since early November. That discussion is not sufficient evidence to establish a formal record price. Treat “record low” as MacRumors’ characterization, not a guarantee that no retailer had ever sold the model for less.

What the M5 iPad Pro lineup includes

Apple introduced the M5 iPad Pro in October 2025. The family comes in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, Wi‑Fi or Wi‑Fi + Cellular connectivity, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage, and Silver or Space Black finishes. Selected configurations offer standard or nano-texture glass. Apple’s current specifications are listed at Apple’s iPad Pro technical specifications page.

Apple’s U.S. launch prices were $999 for the 11-inch Wi‑Fi model, $1,299 for the 13-inch Wi‑Fi model, $1,199 for 11-inch Wi‑Fi + Cellular, and $1,499 for 13-inch Wi‑Fi + Cellular, according to Apple’s launch announcement. Those list prices explain the reported savings; they do not prove that Amazon was the cheapest retailer.

  • Brilliant 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion, True Tone, and P3 wide color - Go far with all-day battery life

The 256GB 11-inch Wi‑Fi configuration is listed with a 9-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and 12GB of memory. Higher-capacity versions can have additional memory and different M5 core configurations, so storage upgrades may also change performance specifications.

Choose the size and connectivity for your use

11-inch

  • Best for handheld use, travel, reading, and the lowest purchase price.
  • A practical choice when a laptop or desktop handles demanding work.

13-inch

  • Better for split-screen work, drawing, video editing, reading large documents, or keyboard use at a desk.
  • Costs more and is less convenient to hold for long periods.

More than 256GB

  • Worth considering for offline video, photography, music, games, large creative projects, or using the iPad as a primary computer.
  • Less compelling if most files stay in cloud services or on another computer.

Wi‑Fi versus cellular

The reported promotion covered Wi‑Fi models only. Do not assume the same discount applies to Wi‑Fi + Cellular versions. Apple’s launch pricing put cellular models $200 above the comparable Wi‑Fi starting prices.

Check these details before ordering from Amazon

  1. Confirm the exact screen size, storage, Wi‑Fi or cellular designation, glass type, and color on the product page and in the cart.
  2. Verify that the condition says new if that is what you intend to buy; marketplace results may include renewed or open-box units.
  3. Read the “Sold by” and “Ships from” fields and review the seller’s reputation.
  4. Enter your ZIP code to see the actual delivery estimate. The January report estimated free delivery around February 5, 2026, with some Prime members seeing earlier dates; that estimate applied to selected locations and is no longer current.
  5. Check the seller-specific return policy and confirm the final price, sales tax, and delivery charge at checkout.

Budget for accessories and the complete system

The reported iPad discount did not include accessories. Apple listed these launch prices in October 2025:

Accessory Apple launch price Who may need it
Apple Pencil Pro $129 Artists, annotators, and frequent handwritten-note users
Apple Pencil (USB‑C) $79 Buyers who want basic stylus support at lower cost
Magic Keyboard for 11-inch $299 Frequent typists who want a tablet keyboard and trackpad
Magic Keyboard for 13-inch $349 Large-screen buyers using the iPad at a desk

AppleCare+, cellular service, higher storage, and a case can add substantially more. AppleCare+ pricing was not verified here, so check Apple’s current AppleCare+ information before including it in your budget. Accessories are optional; a Pencil or keyboard is poor value if you will only watch video, browse, or type occasionally.

Alternatives to consider

  • iPad Air: A better fit if you want iPadOS and Pencil support without the Pro line’s highest-end display, chip configurations, or 1TB/2TB options.
  • MacBook Air: More suitable for desktop multitasking, file management, long-form writing, and professional software compatibility.
  • Refurbished previous-generation iPad Pro: Potentially cheaper, but check battery health, warranty, condition, and seller reputation.
  • Standard iPad: Usually sufficient for browsing, streaming, schoolwork, video calls, and casual use.

Bottom line for shoppers

The January promotion’s lowest reported price was the 11-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi model at $899. The 13-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi model delivered the largest headline discount at $149 off and is the stronger choice only if its larger display will materially improve your work, drawing, reading, or multitasking. The deal is historical, not a verified August 2026 offer, so use the reported figures as a reference and verify the live Amazon listing before paying.
