Those prices were genuine, but they are historical. Amazon listed the standard AirPods 4 at $99 (down from $129) and AirPods Pro 2 at $169 (down from $249) in a deal reported on August 10, 2025. The $99 model was the regular AirPods 4 without active noise cancellation (ANC)—not the AirPods 4 with ANC.
Do not assume either price is still available in October 2026. Amazon pricing, coupons and inventory change by account and location, so verify the live listing before paying.

What was actually discounted?
The AirPods 4 offer covered the standard, non-ANC version. Apple sells a separate AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, so a search result showing “AirPods 4” is not enough to identify the configuration. The Pro offer was for AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C charging case.

MacRumors said Best Buy matched the prices and described the Pro 2 price as close to, but not equal to, previous record lows. Its 2025 delivery estimate is no longer useful.
What you get with standard AirPods 4
Apple lists AirPods 4 as an H2-based, Bluetooth 5.3 earbud with a USB-C case. Battery life is rated at up to five hours per charge and up to 30 hours with the case, under Apple’s stated test conditions. See Apple’s AirPods comparison.

- No ANC: The $99 configuration does not actively cancel outside noise and provides little passive isolation.
- Best use: Calls, home or office listening, casual commuting and Apple-device integration.
- Weak use: Airplanes, loud trains and other situations where isolation matters.
What you get with AirPods Pro 2
AirPods Pro 2 use the H2 chip and Bluetooth 5.3 and include ANC, Transparency mode, Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness and Personalized Spatial Audio. Apple rates listening time at up to six hours per charge under specified conditions. The case is USB-C and supports MagSafe charging.
The silicone-tip, in-ear fit can seal out more sound and stay secure during travel or exercise, but it is not comfortable for everyone. Some advanced and hearing-related functions depend on compatible Apple hardware, software, firmware, region and regulatory approval.

Is AirPods Pro 2 still worth buying in 2026?
Apple’s current comparison lineup includes AirPods Pro 3 as well as Pro 2, so Pro 2 is no longer the newest premium model. Macworld reported AirPods Pro 3 at $179 during June 2026 Prime Day, while standard AirPods 4 reached $99. Check the current Apple lineup and live prices before choosing.
- Buy Pro 2 when its price is substantially below Pro 3 and you specifically want ANC and silicone tips.
- Skip Pro 2 when Pro 3 is only slightly more expensive; the newer model may offer better long-term value.
- Consider AirPods 4 with ANC if you want noise cancellation but prefer an open-style fit.
How to verify an Amazon listing
- Open the official AirPods 4 search or AirPods Pro 2 search.
- Match the title to the exact model. For a $99 AirPods 4 claim, it should say the standard AirPods 4, not “with Active Noise Cancellation.”
- Check that condition is New, not Renewed, Used or open-box.
- Prefer “Sold by Amazon.com” and “Ships from Amazon.com” when available. For marketplace sellers, review ratings, returns and warranty terms.
- Confirm the case is USB-C and note whether the displayed price requires Prime, a clipped coupon, a color selection or a quantity limit.
- Check delivery to your ZIP code, then read the return and warranty information before ordering.
Unusually low prices can attract counterfeit listings. Packaging, serial-number checks and device recognition can help, but a copied valid serial number is not proof of authenticity.

Compatibility and alternatives
AirPods work as Bluetooth headphones with Android and Windows devices, but Apple says functionality may be limited. The fullest integration is with compatible iPhone, iPad and Mac hardware and current software. See Apple’s compatibility comparison.

Bottom-line buying guidance
- At $99: Standard AirPods 4 are a strong budget choice if you do not need ANC and prefer an open fit.
- At $169: AirPods Pro 2 can be compelling for ANC and travel, but only after checking Pro 3’s live price.
- If the prices have expired: Treat the figures as historical and choose based on the verified current listing, condition and seller.
