Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Short answer: Twitch now lets eligible streamers who are not yet Affiliates or Partners use several tools previously tied to those statuses, including subscriptions, Bits, custom emotes, badges and Channel Points. That does not mean every first-time streamer can withdraw cash immediately. Under Twitch’s current agreement, payouts still require Affiliate or Partner status, along with the applicable account, tax, payment and threshold requirements.
What Twitch changed
Twitch’s May 13, 2026 announcement says access to five creator tools is expanding beyond Affiliates and Partners to eligible streamers. The rollout began in the United States in 2025 and became available globally to eligible accounts over the course of a week in May 2026. “Eligible” does not mean every account receives identical access at the same time; country, legal, policy and account conditions can affect what appears in the Creator Dashboard.
The change follows Twitch CEO Dan Clancy’s February 2025 statement that subscriptions and Bits would be opened to most streamers. The 2026 update is the more complete implementation announcement because it names the additional tools and explains the continuing payout restriction.
Twitch’s Monetization for All announcement
Which tools are available?
| Tool | What it does | Direct cash income? |
|---|---|---|
| Subscriptions | Viewers can subscribe or gift subscriptions to the channel. | Potentially, but only when the streamer is eligible for Twitch payouts. |
| Bits | Viewers use Bits to Cheer in chat or through other Twitch features. | Potentially, subject to payout eligibility and Twitch’s Bits policies. |
| Custom emotes | Channel-specific visual assets that support community identity and interaction. | No direct payment by themselves. |
| Badges | Visual recognition for supporters or community members. | No direct payment by themselves. |
| Channel Points | Viewer rewards and interactive channel activities. | No direct payment; they are an engagement feature. |
Twitch identifies all five tools in its announcement. Their availability lets a new channel test supporter benefits and community features earlier, but it does not make every other Affiliate or Partner feature available. The announcement does not establish universal access to advertising revenue or identical emote, badge or subscription capabilities for every account.

Can a first-time streamer withdraw the money?
Not merely because the tools are visible. Twitch’s Monetized Streamer Agreement says someone who is not a Twitch Affiliate or Partner is ineligible to receive Program Fees. Twitch’s announcement makes the same distinction: creators can use the tools before qualifying for a payout, but must reach Affiliate or Partner status to receive money from Twitch.
That means “monetization from day one” describes access to features, not guaranteed cash income. A channel may display subscriptions or receive Bits while the associated balance remains unavailable for withdrawal until the creator completes the required onboarding.
Subscription economics are also account-specific. The agreement refers to the percentage shown in the streamer’s dashboard and to defined net revenue. Deductions can include platform or billing fees, taxes, refunds, chargebacks, currency conversion and bank or transaction fees. There is no universal “the streamer gets half” rule that applies to every account and region.

How to check and activate the features
The practical source of truth is your own Creator Dashboard, not a headline or a third-party guide. Twitch’s Creator Dashboard guide explains the dashboard generally, while the monetization rollout uses account-specific onboarding prompts.

- Open the Creator Dashboard.
- Look for the monetization or onboarding notification available to your account.
- Review and accept the applicable monetized-streamer terms.
- Configure any available subscriptions, emotes, badges, Bits and Channel Points settings.
- Check whether Affiliate eligibility and payout onboarding are shown separately.
- Complete any country-specific payment, tax or identity requirements displayed in the dashboard.
Labels and availability can vary by account, region and rollout stage, so Twitch may not show the same controls to every creator. If the option is missing, possible explanations include an incomplete rollout, unsupported country or legal setup, required agreement or identity information, a dashboard delay, or an account-level policy restriction.
Affiliate requirements are lower, but Affiliate still matters
Twitch says it reduced the Affiliate milestones in June 2026. The change is separate from early access to the tools: early access lets some non-Affiliates use features, while Affiliate remains the status associated with receiving Twitch payouts.

What the $50 threshold means
Twitch’s announcement identifies a $50 minimum payout threshold and says eligible streamers automatically receive a payout when they reach it. The threshold is discussed in connection with Twitch’s Spendable Balance system; it is not a substitute for Affiliate or Partner eligibility, completed payout setup or other applicable conditions.

Spendable Balance is not a cash-out workaround
In the United States, Twitch says streamers can use a Spendable Balance before reaching the $50 cash payout threshold. The balance can be used for purchases such as Bits and gifted subscriptions. Twitch says it plans to add Turbo and channel subscriptions as purchase options and is rolling the feature out globally during 2026.
This is an in-platform spending mechanism, not a bank transfer. Availability, eligible purchases and timing can differ by account and country, so check the dashboard before treating a balance as withdrawable earnings.

More responsibility for setup and moderation
Each feature needs a clear design: subscriber benefits, emote concepts, Channel Point rewards, request rules and moderation boundaries. Rewards that promise too much or encourage spam can create support and moderation problems. Bits are governed by Twitch’s Bits Acceptable Use Policy; do not offer prohibited incentives or make Bits a condition for unrelated benefits.
No guarantee of viewers or income
Early access does not create an audience, guarantee subscriptions or change the economics displayed in your account. It simply moves certain tools earlier in the creator journey.
Common misunderstandings
- “Twitch opened monetization to everyone.” The announcement covers named tools for eligible streamers, not every account or every monetization feature.
- “First-time streamers can get paid immediately.” Non-Affiliates and non-Partners remain ineligible for Program Fees under Twitch’s agreement.
- “Ads are included.” Twitch’s announcement does not say that advertising revenue is open to every first-time streamer.
- “$50 means anyone can cash out.” The threshold does not override Affiliate or Partner status, onboarding or country-specific requirements.
- “Spendable Balance is earnings in a bank account.” It is an in-platform spending option, currently described for U.S. streamers with a global rollout planned during 2026.
Where to verify the rules
Use Twitch’s primary documents for account-specific decisions:
- Monetization for All announcement for the rollout, tools, Affiliate milestones, threshold and Spendable Balance.
- Monetized Streamer Agreement for payout eligibility and net-revenue terms.
- Bits Acceptable Use Policy for limits on Bits solicitation and incentives.
- Creator Dashboard guide for managing channel settings and checking onboarding.
- Twitch Creator Camp for Twitch’s educational monetization material.
The Bottom Line
Twitch has moved subscriptions, Bits, emotes, badges and Channel Points earlier in the creator journey for eligible streamers. It has not made Twitch payouts universally available from a streamer’s first broadcast: Affiliate or Partner status and the remaining payout requirements still matter.
