PC Slower Than It Used to Be?

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchYes, you can build a freelance web-development business on Fiverr—but not by advertising that you “do websites.” Fiverr works best when you package one repeatable outcome for a clearly defined buyer, price it after the platform’s 20% earnings deduction, and control scope from requirements through handoff.
This guide explains how to choose an offer, create a compliant Gig, price profitably, manage access and revisions, deliver safely, and decide whether Fiverr fits your longer-term business.
Can you make money as a web developer on Fiverr?
Fiverr provides marketplace discovery, payment handling, and a fixed-order workflow; it does not guarantee leads or income. Your results depend on demand, positioning, portfolio evidence, response quality, reviews, pricing, and competition.
Fiverr’s current seller-earnings documentation says freelancers receive 80% of the purchase amount, including extras and tips. A $100 order therefore produces $80 before taxes, withdrawal-provider charges, software, hosting, subcontracting, and unpaid administration. See Fiverr’s earnings explanation.

#1 Best Overall
Buyers currently pay a standard 5.5% service fee, plus $3.50 on orders under $200. That buyer-side cost affects the total checkout price, particularly for low-priced packages. Details are in Fiverr’s order-fee guidance.
Fiverr is a good fit when your service has a defined deliverable, predictable turnaround, limited revisions, and clear boundaries around content, hosting, integrations, and maintenance. It is a poor fit for open-ended consulting or projects whose requirements cannot be known before work begins.
Sell an outcome, not general availability
- “I build a fast, mobile-friendly five-page WordPress site for local service businesses.”
- “I convert Figma designs into responsive HTML, CSS, and React pages.”
- “I fix responsive-layout and JavaScript bugs on existing websites.”
These offers are easier to understand, compare, estimate, and repeat than “I do any kind of web development.”
Skills to have before taking paid orders
Technical baseline
- Semantic HTML, responsive CSS, accessibility basics, and JavaScript fundamentals.
- Git, browser developer tools, debugging, and cross-browser testing.
- Deployment, domains, DNS, SSL, image optimization, and basic SEO metadata.
- Forms, validation, performance checks, and testing at multiple viewport sizes.
- Administration of the platform you sell, such as WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, or another CMS.
- Secure handling of credentials, API keys, repositories, and production systems.
Business baseline
- Turning a business objective into written requirements.
- Estimating conservatively and declining work outside your capability.
- Defining revisions, assumptions, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
- Writing status updates, delivery notes, and a handoff guide.
- Keeping records for taxes and understanding your country’s rules.
Start only with a service you have completed several times independently. A paid order is not the place to learn fundamental deployment or framework concepts.
Choose a narrow first service
Test every idea against three questions: Can you deliver it without unfamiliar tools? Will a buyer understand it immediately? Can you standardize it with checklists, reusable components, or a starter project?
Practical starter categories
- WordPress business sites, landing pages, and small brochure sites.
- Static HTML/CSS builds or Figma-to-code implementation.
- Shopify theme and product-page customization.
- Responsive, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, and browser-compatibility fixes.
- Speed, accessibility, migration, backup, and update assistance.
- Small forms, calculators, booking integrations, or CMS customizations.
Approach cautiously at first
- Full custom applications with unknown requirements.
- Payment systems, authentication, or security-sensitive work.
- Medical, financial, legal, or otherwise regulated websites.
- Large e-commerce stores and complex third-party integrations.
- Projects requiring private keys, financial credentials, or prohibited activity.
A sensible progression is small fixes, then standardized business sites or design conversions, then maintenance and larger integrations after you have delivery evidence.
Build proof before publishing
Create three focused examples that match the service you intend to sell. For a landing-page Gig, show responsive pages at desktop and mobile widths. For bug-fix work, show the problem, diagnosis, and verified result. For WordPress, show page structure, forms, performance, and an honest explanation of what you built.

- HTML CSS Design and Build Web Sites
- Comes with secure packaging
- It can be a gift option
- Use personal, speculative, open-source, or paid work, but label each accurately.
- Include the buyer problem, your contribution, tools, constraints, and final deliverable.
- Use original code and properly licensed images, fonts, themes, and plugins.
- Do not invent clients, results, certifications, testimonials, or employment.
A portfolio site, selected GitHub repositories, and before-and-after demonstrations can establish capability without pretending that self-initiated work was commissioned.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCreate and activate your Fiverr freelancer account
Fiverr currently requires freelancer activation and Gig creation through a desktop browser. Follow the current account instructions at Fiverr’s account guide.
- Create or sign in to a Fiverr account.
- Select your profile picture, choose Become a Seller, then choose it again to start onboarding.
- Watch the onboarding videos and complete profile fields truthfully.
- Verify your phone and complete any requested identity or tax steps.
- Publish your first Gig after approval checks.
Users generally must be at least 18. Users aged 13–17 may use Fiverr only through a parent or legal guardian’s account under Fiverr’s rules.
If activation or publishing is blocked
- Confirm email and phone verification.
- Finish identity verification and required tax forms.
- Check the display name and every required profile field.
- Sign out, clear cache and cookies, and retry in another desktop browser.
- Read the exact warning and contact Fiverr Support if it persists.
Build a credible profile
State who you help, what you build, which platform you use, and what evidence supports the claim. Use a professional, truthful display name and image; list relevant skills, education, certifications, languages, availability, and a concise process.
Fiverr’s professional-conduct guidance requires truthful representation and original work: review the policy before publishing.
Create your first Gig step by step
Fiverr’s current Gig workflow is documented at Creating a Gig. Gig creation and editing are not supported in the mobile app or mobile browser.
- Overview: Write a focused title, select the category and subcategory, and add up to five relevant tags. Titles use Fiverr’s “I will…” format.
- Scope and pricing: Offer Basic, Standard, and Premium packages only where each represents a meaningful scope difference. Prices are in U.S. dollars; Fiverr lists $5 as a minimum starting price, although some categories may require more. At least one revision option is required per package.
- Description and FAQ: Explain the result, inclusions, exclusions, process, dependencies, and definition of completion. Fiverr’s current documentation allows up to 1,200 description characters and up to 10 FAQs.
- Requirements: Ask for the information and assets needed before work begins.
- Gallery: Use clear, original images, video, or other permitted media that show the actual service.
- Publish: Fiverr may automatically review, approve, reject, or request changes.
Title examples
- I will build a responsive WordPress website for your small business
- I will fix HTML CSS and JavaScript website bugs
- I will convert your Figma design into a responsive website
- I will create a fast HTML CSS and JavaScript landing page
- I will customize your Shopify theme and product pages
Do not force every technology into one title. A buyer should know the platform, task, and outcome at a glance.

Design packages that prevent scope creep
| Package | Example deliverable | State explicitly |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | One responsive landing page | Copywriting, hosting, and advanced integrations excluded |
| Standard | Up to five-page business website | No e-commerce or custom backend features |
| Premium | Additional templates, forms, and setup | Maintenance excluded unless separately included |
Every package should specify page or template limits, platform, buyer-supplied content, stock images, domain and hosting responsibility, revisions, delivery time, deployment, source files, and post-delivery support.
Define a revision as a change to supplied work—not a new page, feature, integration, or change of direction. Avoid “unlimited revisions,” “any type of website,” guaranteed rankings, impossible deadlines, lifetime support, and unpriced third-party licenses.
Price for profit, not for the headline
Use this formula:
Required order price = (desired net earnings + external costs + risk buffer) ÷ 0.80
For example, if you want $400 after Fiverr’s share, expect $30 of external costs, and reserve $70 for risk and administration, the required price is ($400 + $30 + $70) ÷ 0.80 = $625. Taxes and payout-provider charges are separate.
Count build time, messages, discovery, revisions, testing, deployment, documentation, licenses, stock assets, hosting work, currency conversion, taxes, cancellation risk, and opportunity cost.
A $5 or $25 offer can work for one tightly bounded CSS fix, a short audit, or a single landing-page section. It is rarely a sustainable price for a complete website once communication and revisions are included.
Collect complete requirements
Ask for the following before starting:
- Business objective, target audience, required pages, and definition of completion.
- Brand colors, logo, copy, images, design files, and reference websites.
- Platform, existing URL, hosting and domain provider, and required integrations.
- Forms, analytics, launch date, contact person, and approval process.
Prefer temporary credentials, collaborator accounts, least-privilege access, and two-factor authentication. Never request private keys or unnecessary production access. Record what access was received, rotate passwords after handoff, and separate development from production where possible.

Manage orders, milestones, and changes
Confirm the scope inside Fiverr before beginning:
I’ll deliver [pages and features] on [platform] using the supplied [content and assets]. The package includes [number] revision rounds and excludes [items]. Deployment is [included/not included]. Please confirm these requirements are complete before I begin.
For longer work, stage delivery as requirements and sitemap, design or homepage approval, remaining pages, functionality, testing, then deployment and handoff. Fiverr’s Gig documentation supports milestones for longer or more complex projects.
When a buyer requests extra work, explain the boundary and offer a custom offer. Do not perform major unpaid additions merely to secure a review.
Recommended Free Tools
If content or access is missing, message the buyer immediately and document the dependency. Do not fabricate completion to stop the clock.
Deliver a website professionally
Pre-delivery checklist
- Test current desktop and mobile browsers at multiple viewport widths.
- Check navigation, links, forms, confirmation messages, images, alt text, titles, metadata, favicon, and social previews where included.
- Review accessibility basics, performance, large assets, 404 behavior, and the actual hosting environment.
- Verify analytics or tracking only if it is in scope.
- Confirm included source files, repository access, and deployment status.
Handoff document
- Live URL, admin URL, stack, hosting and domain notes.
- Plugin or dependency list, backups, updates, and known limitations.
- Credential-transfer instructions, maintenance recommendations, and support boundaries.
Use Fiverr’s Deliver your order function to provide completed files or verifiable proof of completion. Fiverr’s seller FAQ explains the delivery requirement at its seller FAQ. Do not mark an order complete when the core work has not been delivered.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Understand completion, clearing, and withdrawals
The buyer pays Fiverr when the order starts. After delivery, the buyer generally has three days to respond; shipping-related Gigs can have a 14-day response period. Once an order is complete, sellers generally wait 14 days before withdrawing. Shorter periods may apply to eligible Top Rated, Fiverr Pro, or other programs. These rules can change; see Fiverr’s current seller FAQ.

Check Fiverr’s withdrawal page for current regional availability. Keep records of gross sales, Fiverr deductions, provider charges, currency conversion, expenses, and taxes; payout timing does not remove your tax obligations.
Follow Fiverr’s rules
Keep transactions on Fiverr
Do not request or accept payment outside Fiverr, direct a buyer to bypass checkout, or exchange personal contact details to move the transaction elsewhere. Violations can lead to warnings, restrictions, or suspension. Read the off-platform policy.
A portfolio link used to demonstrate experience is different from contact information or a payment link used to solicit an external transaction. Fiverr’s Gig rules explain the distinction at Gig policies.
Protect originality, rights, and confidentiality
- Use original code or material you are legally licensed to deliver.
- Do not copy competitors, resell another freelancer’s work, or misrepresent a purchased template as custom development.
- Verify rights to client-supplied images, fonts, plugins, themes, and open-source components.
- Do not expose client code, credentials, keys, or proprietary assets in public repositories.
AI can assist with brainstorming or coding, but you remain responsible for accuracy, security, originality, licensing, accessibility, confidentiality, and quality. Never fabricate reviews, testimonials, portfolio results, or identity.
Reject unsafe work
Refuse requests involving phishing, credential harvesting, malware, unauthorized access, illegal deception, exact copying of a competitor, unknown software installation, private keys, or unusual payment processes. Report suspicious activity through Fiverr rather than negotiating outside the platform.
Get initial orders without gambling your margin
Improve the offer before buying visibility: use relevant samples, a specific title, realistic packages, complete requirements, and prompt written responses. Fiverr permits promotion through social media, websites, newsletters, and advertising when the transaction returns to Fiverr; see its promotion guidance.
Promoted Gigs are cost-per-click advertising for eligible sellers. Do not buy traffic before you know that your Gig converts qualified inquiries. Seller Plus is a paid program whose current price and eligibility should be checked directly. Fiverr Pro is reviewed and vetted, not an automatic beginner upgrade; Pro Gigs under $100 do not display the Pro Vetted badge according to Fiverr’s Pro-Gig guidance.
Grow beyond one small Gig
- Track which inquiries, packages, and objections recur.
- Improve the validated Gig before adding adjacent offers.
- Add separately priced deployment, migration, accessibility, performance, or maintenance services.
- Raise prices as your portfolio, reviews, and process reduce buyer risk.
- Use repeat-client workflows without implying that one-time packages include ongoing support.
- Diversify with referrals, a personal site, direct outreach, or another marketplace.
Maintenance can create repeatable post-launch revenue, but define update frequency, response times, backups, security work, content changes, licenses, and cancellation terms as a separate service.

| Channel | Strength | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Fiverr | Marketplace discovery, checkout, and productized orders | 20% seller deduction, competition, delayed clearing, and platform rules |
| Direct outreach | Control over pricing, contracts, and retainers | You generate leads and manage invoicing, disputes, fraud, and taxes |
| Personal site and referrals | Long-term brand and ownership of positioning | Requires traffic, networking, SEO, or referrals |
| Proposal marketplaces | Better fit for custom discovery and larger projects | Proposal competition and different fee and payment rules |
No channel universally pays more. Choose the process that matches your service: fixed, comparable outcomes suit Fiverr; discovery-heavy and unrestricted work may suit direct relationships or proposal-led marketplaces.
