Steps to find the numbers in the PNC Mobile app
- Sign in to the official PNC Mobile app.
- Select the deposit account you need. Choose the particular checking or savings account that will send or receive the money; do not simply select the first account listed.
- Tap Account & Routing Numbers.
- If prompted, enter the one-time passcode PNC uses to verify your identity.
- Review the full account number and routing number displayed for that account.
The feature is intended for deposit accounts, including checking, savings and applicable Virtual Wallet components. A PNC credit-card, loan or debit-card number is not a substitute for a deposit-account number.
Virtual Wallet: select the right account
Virtual Wallet can display more than one checking or savings component. Select the specific account associated with the direct deposit, ACH payment or transfer you are setting up. PNC’s public mobile instructions refer broadly to checking and savings accounts; they do not establish that every Virtual Wallet subaccount has a separate routing number. Confirm the account name and last four digits before copying any information.
Why PNC may request a one-time passcode
PNC may require an additional identity check before revealing the full numbers. Use the phone number already associated with your PNC profile and follow only the prompt inside the official app. Never give the code to an employer, adviser, caller or anyone who contacts you.

- Do not post the code, account number or routing number in a screenshot, public forum, email thread or unsecured chat.
- If the code does not arrive, check that your phone number is current, cellular service is working and messages from short codes are not blocked.
- Request another code only through the app’s official prompt, and contact PNC customer service if the problem continues.
Which PNC routing number should you use?
A routing number is a nine-digit identifier, and PNC says it can vary based on where an account was opened and the type of transaction. Use the number shown for the selected account unless the receiving institution gives different, transaction-specific instructions.

If you only need to set up direct deposit
For supported employers and payroll providers, PNC may let you start setup without manually typing the numbers:
- Sign in to the PNC Mobile app.
- Open the relevant deposit or savings account and scroll down.
- Tap Manage Direct Deposit.
- Select the account for the deposit.
- Search for or select your employer or payroll provider.
- Follow the on-screen prompts.
This feature is different from displaying your numbers. Availability depends on whether your employer or payroll provider is supported. If a government agency, lender or employer requires you to submit the numbers or a completed form, use the account-and-routing-number screen or PNC’s official form instead. Ways to find the numbers without the app
PNC Online Banking
- Sign in to PNC Online Banking.
- Select the checking or savings account.
- Choose the account-and-routing-number link, which PNC may label View Account/Routing Number or Show Account & Routing Number.
- Complete one-time-passcode verification if requested.
For Virtual Wallet, PNC’s online instructions direct customers to open Account Activity, choose the relevant Virtual Wallet account from the dropdown, and then select the account-and-routing-number link. See PNC’s customer-service page.

Paper check
On a PNC paper check, the routing number is the first nine-digit number along the bottom and the account number follows it. PNC’s example shows an eleven-digit account number, but do not assume every account has that length. The check number is also printed on the check and is not your account number. See PNC’s check-layout explanation.
Posted-check image
If you recently wrote a check and it has posted, open the posted check transaction in Online Banking and view the check image. PNC says the image can provide the account and routing numbers when you do not have the checkbook.
Direct-deposit enrollment form
When a payer requires a form, use PNC’s Direct Deposit Enrollment Form. It includes fields for the bank name, account type, account number and routing number.
PNC support or a branch
If none of these options is available, use PNC’s official customer-service channels or visit a branch. Do not obtain banking numbers from unverified websites or social-media accounts.

Why can’t I see “Account & Routing Numbers”?
Try this recovery sequence:
- Return to the account list and select the checking or savings account itself.
- Check account actions or details for the exact Account & Routing Numbers label.
- If you selected a credit card, loan or another non-deposit product, switch to the applicable deposit account.
- Update the PNC app through your device’s official app store. PNC’s public pages do not identify one required iOS or Android version.
- Try PNC Online Banking, then use a check, posted-check image, direct-deposit form or official support if necessary.
A missing option can reflect the selected product, an interface variation, a temporary technical problem or a required authentication step. Do not assume reinstalling the app will fix it.
Check the details before submitting them
- Match the account name and last four digits to the account you intended to use.
- Identify whether the transaction is ACH, direct deposit, domestic wire or international transfer.
- Confirm whether the recipient requires a checking or savings account.
- Use the recipient’s official form or instructions when one is supplied.
- Redact personal numbers, names and balances from any image you retain or share.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I find a PNC Virtual Wallet account number in the app?
Select the particular checking or savings account associated with the transaction, then open Account & Routing Numbers. Virtual Wallet components may not all present identical account details, so verify the account name and last four digits.
Is the routing number on my check the same as PNC’s wire-routing number?
Not necessarily. PNC lists 043000096 for incoming wires, while ordinary ACH or direct-deposit transactions use the routing number shown for the selected account. Confirm the transaction-specific instructions before sending money.
Can I use my PNC debit-card number as my account number?
No. A debit-card number identifies the card, not the deposit account. Retrieve the deposit-account number through the app, Online Banking, a check or an official PNC form.

What if I forgot my PNC login?
Use PNC’s official sign-in recovery and customer-service options at https://www.pnc.com/en/customer-service.html. Do not use a third-party site to retrieve account details.
Is PNC’s routing number identical in every state?
Do not assume that. PNC says routing numbers can vary by where the account was opened and by transaction type; use the number shown for your account and follow separate wire instructions when applicable.
What does an employer need for direct deposit?
Requirements vary, but a payer commonly requests the bank name, account type, account number and routing number. Use PNC’s direct-deposit workflow or its official enrollment form when your employer requires those fields.
