They are not $30 or $45 all-in, however: taxes, fees, devices, international charges and the required Internet service still affect the real household cost. Mobile Select is the sensible choice for most moderate users; Mobile Plus earns its extra $15 mainly through premium data, hotspot capacity, protection and upgrade benefits.
What changed on April 22, 2026?
Xfinity replaced the confusing older Unlimited branding for new sign-ups with two plans: Mobile Select and Mobile Plus. Both use Wi-Fi, including Xfinity WiFi hotspots, and a partner cellular network when Wi-Fi is unavailable; Xfinity does not operate a nationwide cellular network equivalent to Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile. Network experience varies by location, device, congestion and connection type (Comcast announcement; network disclosures).
| Plan | Price per phone line* | Premium cellular data | High-speed hotspot | Streaming | Main extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile Select | $30/month | 50 GB; after that, traffic may be slower than other traffic during congestion | 15 GB, then unlimited at reduced 3G speeds | HD | International benefits and WiFi PowerBoost |
| Mobile Plus | $45/month | Unlimited premium data under stated terms | 50 GB, then unlimited at reduced 3G speeds | 4K | Lifetime device protection, eligible upgrades, international benefits and WiFi PowerBoost |
*Prices are Xfinity’s multi-product pricing before taxes and fees; eligibility rules apply. See the current Xfinity pricing explanation.
What will your bill actually include?
The advertised line price is only one component of the cost. Separate the decision into the mobile charge, the total wireless bill and the total household telecom bill.

- Mobile charge: $30 or $45 per phone line, plus any tablet or smartwatch lines.
- Wireless additions: Taxes, regulatory or recovery fees, device installments, applicable equipment charges and international charges outside included destinations or limits.
- Household cost: The wireless bill plus Xfinity Internet. Xfinity requires residential post-pay Internet when you sign up.
- After cancelling Internet: Xfinity says a $10-per-month charge may apply and mobile pricing or eligibility can change (terms and restrictions).
- Activation: Current pages list a $25 one-time fee per line, although qualifying promotions may waive it. A waiver is not a permanent plan feature (BYOD information).
For the phone-line portion alone, two, three and four lines cost $60, $90 and $120 on Select, or $90, $135 and $180 on Plus, before taxes and fees. Xfinity says an account can have up to 12 phone lines. Tablets are $20 per line and watches $10; neither is included in phone multi-line pricing (Xfinity FAQ).
Mobile Select versus Mobile Plus
Choose Mobile Select for moderate use
Select fits households whose lines generally remain below 50 GB of cellular data, use hotspot occasionally and are satisfied with HD video. The first 50 GB is premium data. Xfinity does not promise an automatic cutoff afterward, but during congestion that traffic may be temporarily slower than other traffic. A light-data user may notice little practical difference from Plus.
Choose Mobile Plus for heavy use and bundled protection
Plus adds $15 per line for unlimited premium data, 50 GB of high-speed hotspot instead of 15 GB, 4K streaming, lifetime Xfinity Mobile Care Plus for eligible connected devices and eligible upgrade benefits. Care Plus still has eligibility conditions, exclusions and potentially nonrefundable service fees when you make a claim; read the coverage terms.
Plus is most defensible when a line regularly exceeds 50 GB, relies on laptop tethering, streams 4K, replaces a separate insurance payment or values frequent upgrades. It is not automatically worth $15 for every line; you can otherwise be paying for capacity you never use.
The catch behind “unlimited”
Premium data is not the same as a speed guarantee
Select’s 50 GB premium-data allowance is a traffic-priority threshold, not a promise of a particular speed. Performance depends on the partner network, radio technology, location, device and congestion. Plus is described as unlimited premium data and not deprioritized or slowed under the stated plan terms, but no plan guarantees a fixed speed (Xfinity disclosures).
Hotspot remains tiered
Select supplies 15 GB of 5G-speed hotspot data and Plus 50 GB. After the allowance, hotspot continues without a hard data cutoff at reduced 3G speeds. Hotspot use counts in plan usage calculations, so either plan can be a poor substitute for home broadband for remote work or heavy laptop use (plan details).

International data has a high-speed limit
Current plans advertise talk, text and data in more than 215 destinations. Xfinity’s international coverage page says speeds are reduced after 10 GB in a month, so “unlimited international data” does not mean unlimited high-speed data. Destinations, roaming rules and charges can differ; check the coverage list before travel.
Who gets the strongest value?
Existing Xfinity Internet customers
They are the intended audience: the Internet requirement is already satisfied, so the relevant comparison is the incremental mobile cost. Confirm that your exact Internet product qualifies for the multi-product pricing. Xfinity identifies Internet Essentials, Internet Essentials Plus, NOW Internet and NOW WiFi Pass as ineligible for certain multi-product discounts (eligibility details).
Families
Four Select lines are $120 before taxes and fees; four Plus lines are $180. Compare those totals with equivalent competing plans only after normalizing premium-data priority, hotspot, device financing, taxes, perks and coverage. A headline rate alone is not an apples-to-apples comparison.

Travelers and protection-minded buyers
The included international benefit can avoid separate roaming purchases for moderate use. Plus’s included protection can also be valuable for expensive phones, tablets or watches, provided the claim fees and exclusions are acceptable.

Check service at your actual home, workplace, rural routes, travel destinations and frequently visited buildings. Xfinity’s coverage map is an address or ZIP-code starting point, not an indoor-service guarantee. Verify both 5G and LTE availability and whether your phone supports the relevant bands.
You can bring a compatible, unlocked phone. Use the BYOD checker for the exact model and eSIM or physical-SIM support before porting your number. Resolve any remaining device balance with the old carrier, and confirm that a BYOD phone qualifies for desired protection or upgrade programs.

Existing customers need a separate decision
The April 2026 plans are not a universal rename of every older account. Customers who joined earlier may retain grandfathered options. By the Gig customers can keep that arrangement, but switching to the latest structure may make By the Gig unavailable if they later want to revert. Review your current bill, data pattern and benefits before changing anything (Xfinity’s existing-customer guidance).
When a standalone carrier is better
Compare Visible, Mint, US Mobile, T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T when you do not already want Xfinity Internet, need a simple prepaid account, require a particular carrier’s coverage or want to leave Comcast entirely. Their current offers change, so compare the exact plan, line count and date:
Normalize taxes, autopay requirements, device payments, hotspot policy, premium-data treatment, international use and coverage. Also compare the cost of adding or retaining Internet; otherwise a cheap mobile line can increase the household bill.
A practical decision checklist
- Confirm you have qualifying residential post-pay Xfinity Internet, or price that service separately.
- Estimate cellular data and hotspot use for every line.
- Decide whether 4K video, insurance and upgrades justify Plus.
- Check home, work and travel ZIP codes on Xfinity’s map.
- Run each phone’s exact model through the BYOD checker.
- Add taxes, fees, activation, devices, tablets, watches and possible international charges to the comparison.
- If you are on By the Gig or an older plan, verify whether switching is reversible.
Xfinity is also advertising a qualifying new-customer promotion that makes one Mobile Select line free for 12 months for customers with 300 Mbps-or-faster Internet; it is limited to one line, followed by regular rates, and remains subject to taxes, fees and promotion terms (plan disclosures).
