The Pixel 10 Pro XL did start at $1,199, but Google removed its 128GB model, making 256GB the entry configuration. The rumored $1,600 Pixel 10 Pro Fold discount did not happen: the foldable launched in the US at $1,799 for 256GB.
The figures below separate the unconfirmed leak from the prices Google ultimately used after the Pixel 10 family was announced on August 20, 2025.
What the July 2025 Pixel 10 pricing leak claimed
A detailed report published July 30, 2025, listed these alleged US prices and storage tiers. They were leak figures, not confirmed Google prices at the time.

Why the Pixel 10 Pro XL looked $100 more expensive
The comparison that matters is not simply $1,099 versus $1,199. The Pixel 9 Pro XL’s entry price bought 128GB. The Pixel 10 Pro XL’s $1,199 entry configuration comes with 256GB.

In other words, Google raised the cheapest XL buy-in by $100 while doubling the base storage. Calling it only a $100 price hike hides the configuration change: shoppers no longer had a cheaper 128GB XL option.

Two different Pixel 10 Pro Fold rumors caused the confusion
The earlier $1,600 rumor
An April 2025 report suggested the Pixel 10 Pro Fold might start at $1,600—$200 below the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s reported starting price. That was an earlier possibility, not a confirmed price. The report is available from Android Central.

The later detailed pricing leak
The later July report listed the Fold at $1,799 for 256GB, $1,919 for 512GB and $2,149 for 1TB. Those figures contradicted the idea of a $1,600 entry model and were closer to what eventually appeared at launch.

What Google ultimately charged in the US
After the Pixel 10 family was announced on August 20, 2025, the final launch picture was clearer.

How much more is the Fold than the slab phones?

The Fold and Pro XL both start with 256GB, but the Fold costs substantially more because it combines a phone with a book-style, large inner display. Its hardware includes a 6.4-inch cover screen, an 8-inch internal screen, Tensor G5, 16GB of RAM, IP68 dust and water resistance, and up to 15W Qi2 wireless charging.
Google’s specifications also promise seven years of operating-system, security and Pixel Drop updates. Storage availability can vary by region and sales channel; consult the Pixel 10 Pro Fold specification sheet for those qualifications.
Which Pixel 10 model makes financial sense?
Pixel 10 Pro: the value anchor
At $999, the Pro is the least expensive route to the Pro camera and software experience. It is the logical choice if you want a conventional phone and do not need the XL’s larger body or the Fold’s internal display.

Pixel 10 Pro XL: more storage, higher entry cost
The XL suits buyers who want a larger conventional Pixel and can use 256GB immediately. It is less attractive if your priority is the lowest possible Pro-series price, because the 128GB entry option was removed.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold: buy the form factor, not a discount
The Fold is defensible when you will regularly read, multitask, use split-screen apps or watch media on the 8-inch inner display. It is difficult to justify as a value purchase: independent review coverage praised its durability, battery life and polish but found that the large-screen software benefits did not fully match the premium. A conventional Pro phone plus a separate tablet may be more practical for some buyers.
- IP68 resistance does not make the Fold waterproof or drop-proof. Google warns that resistance can decline with wear or damage, and liquid damage is not covered by the warranty.
- Seven years of software support does not guarantee seven years of like-new hinge, inner-screen or battery condition.
- A foldable can carry higher repair or replacement exposure than a conventional phone.
Do promotions change the real price?
Trade-in credits, instant discounts, Google Store credit, carrier bill credits and new-line promotions can reduce what a particular buyer pays. They do not change the unlocked MSRP, and the conditions matter. A monthly installment may require a three-year contract, an eligible trade-in or a specific unlimited plan.

Google’s offers page, viewed August 18, 2026, was centered on Pixel 11 promotions rather than establishing a permanent Pixel 10 MSRP reduction: Google Store offers. Check the terms before treating a promotion as a price cut.
The Pixel 10 Pro, Pro XL and Pro Fold launch material also advertised a 12-month Google AI Pro benefit stated at $239.88, with a listed $19.99 monthly price after the offer unless canceled. Eligibility restrictions applied, including limits involving existing Google One subscriptions, family plans and third-party billing. The stated redemption deadline was October 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT. That is conditional promotional value, not cash off the handset.
Final verdict on the leak
The leak was partly accurate. It correctly pointed toward a $1,199 Pixel 10 Pro XL entry price, but the important change was removal of the 128GB model and replacement with 256GB. It did not correctly predict a $1,600 Pixel 10 Pro Fold: the Fold launched at $1,799 for 256GB, matching the later detailed leak and the previous generation’s starting price.
For value-focused buyers, the $999 Pixel 10 Pro remained the price anchor. The XL was a larger conventional phone with more base storage, while the Fold was a premium form-factor purchase rather than a bargain.
