Blackpool FC’s audited annual football wage bill cannot be confirmed from the available figures. Salary Sport reports £11 million in staff costs for 2024/25, but that third-party figure is not established as player wages. Companies House records the club’s accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025, filed on 31 March 2026; the underlying statements and a football-wage figure were not available in the sources reviewed. The claimed Matt Bloomfield link to replacing Steve Bruce is likewise unverified.

What is Blackpool FC’s annual wage bill?

There is no confirmed football wage total to report from the available evidence. Salary Sport gives £11 million for Blackpool’s 2024/25 “staff costs,” but staff costs may include a broader group of employees and accounting categories than player wages. It should not be presented as the club’s player wage bill or as an audited football-wage figure. Salary Sport’s Blackpool figures are a third-party estimate/report, not the club’s filed accounts.

Companies House records The Blackpool Football Club Limited’s accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025, filed on 31 March 2026. The public filing record establishes the accounting period and filing date, but the available sources do not show the relevant accounts note or an audited wage total. Companies House filing history lists the club’s filings.

Why staff costs are not the same as a wage bill

“Wage bill” is often used casually to mean what a club pays its players, but company accounts may report staff costs covering a wider workforce and associated employment costs. The figure can also differ depending on whether it refers to the club company alone or a consolidated group. Without the accounts note and a clear definition, those measures cannot be treated as interchangeable.

  • Player wages: pay specifically attributable to players.
  • Football staff costs: potentially includes players and other football-department employees.
  • Company staff costs: may cover a wider range of club employees.
  • Group costs: may include entities beyond the standalone club company.

Companies House also records group accounts for the holding company, made up to 30 June 2025 and filed on 1 April 2026. That separate filing date does not establish a wage figure or make group costs directly comparable with the club-company total. Companies House holding-company record identifies the group filing history.

Was Matt Bloomfield linked with replacing Steve Bruce?

The available sources do not verify that Blackpool considered Matt Bloomfield as Steve Bruce’s replacement. No original dated report establishing the link and no official club announcement confirming Bloomfield’s candidacy were located. The headline wording alone is not evidence that talks took place or that an appointment was imminent.

A secondary season page states that Bruce was dismissed on 4 October 2025, but that is not an official confirmation of the managerial timeline or Bloomfield link. The season page should be treated as secondary context, not as proof of the claim. The club’s current manager should be checked against its official announcements before relying on any time-sensitive report.

How to read the figures responsibly

When comparing Blackpool’s costs across seasons or with other clubs, check the accounting period, whether it is a full year, which employees and costs are included, whether the accounts are standalone or consolidated, and whether the number comes from filed accounts or a third-party source. Without those details, a headline comparison can imply precision that the underlying figure does not support.
