The report described the change as removing the receipt-value requirement, but no primary FBR, PRAL or Federal Tax Ombudsman notice confirming the fix or defining which cases it covered was located. This is a report about a 2025 incident, not confirmation of IRIS’s status today.
What happened with the IRIS “correct receipt value” error?
According to ProPakistani’s September 11, 2025 report, some salaried taxpayers trying to file income-tax returns through IRIS were blocked by the message “Please enter correct receipt value.” The report said tax experts and lawyers had tried repeatedly to address the issue and that it had been taken up with the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO).
ProPakistani said FBR removed the validation condition requiring the “correct receipt value.” The report did not establish which returns or taxpayer situations were covered, and the sources available do not independently confirm the change. It also does not show that a later appearance of the same or a similar message has the same cause.
What should salaried taxpayers do if IRIS still will not submit?
Do not assume a current validation message is the 2025 bug. The report concerns a past incident; it does not establish why a message appearing now is occurring. Check whether the return information is complete and whether the separate wealth statement reconciles before treating a message as a software fault.

Check both required filing items
FBR’s income-tax return guidance says IRIS filing involves completing both a Return of Income and a Wealth Statement. The wealth statement must reconcile the change in wealth with the difference between income and expenses; if it does not reconcile, submission is prevented. FBR says successful submission is reflected when both items move from “Draft” to “Completed Task.”
For salaried persons whose salary is more than 50% of their income, FBR says Declaration form 114(I) is available. That filing guidance provides context for salaried returns but does not identify the cause of the reported receipt-value error.

Use FBR’s official support route for a recurring problem
FBR’s taxpayer-services page describes a helpline that issues case numbers, refers complaints through support tiers and helps taxpayers navigate IRIS. Check that page for current contact options, and provide the exact error text and the filing step where it appears so support can assess the current issue.
An FBR office order dated October 28, 2025 established a committee to identify and resolve technical problems taxpayers faced submitting Tax Year 2025 returns. That order is historical; its contacts should not be treated as current support details.

Does the 2025 report establish that FBR fixed the issue for everyone?
No. It establishes what ProPakistani reported: FBR had removed a receipt-value validation condition after some salaried taxpayers encountered the error. No primary FBR, PRAL or FTO confirmation specifying the fix’s scope was located. The report also gave September 30, 2025 as the approaching filing deadline at that time; that date has passed and is not a current deadline.
