There is no confirmed evidence in the sources reviewed that Turki Alalshikh has bid for Millwall FC or is in current takeover negotiations. The “three reasons” framing is therefore best treated as speculation, not an account of his stated intentions. His past club ownership, the commercial-development case for football investment, and the broader appeal of English football offer context—but none establishes a Millwall-specific motive.
Has Turki Alalshikh made a bid for Millwall?
No Millwall bid or current negotiations are established by the available reporting. A Millwall podcast listing has discussed takeover rumours and reported club denials, but that is not independent confirmation of a transaction. There is also no verified offer to compare with another bidder or proposal. In takeover coverage, a rumour, investment conversation, formal bid, regulatory process and completed acquisition are distinct stages; treating them as interchangeable can make speculation sound like a deal.
Three possible explanations—and the limits of each
The sources do not provide three reasons from Alalshikh himself, nor do they show why he would choose Millwall. The following are broad hypotheses suggested by his football background and the wider business context, not established motives.

1. He has experience owning football clubs
BBC Sport describes Alalshikh as a Saudi Arabian government official and a prominent boxing figure. It reports that he owned Egyptian club Pyramids FC from 2018 to 2019 and Spanish club Almeria from 2019 until 2025. That history makes further football investment a plausible topic of discussion, but it is not evidence of interest in Millwall. BBC Sport
2. Football investment can be framed around commercial and operational development
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sport describes a sports-club investment and privatization project intended to enable private-sector participation and develop club operations, governance, fan experience and commercial opportunity. A Saudi Pro League article published on 9 September 2026 likewise discusses governance, financial sustainability, club development, commercial capability, audiences and fan engagement as parts of the league’s long-term development. 3. English football may be of interest—but Millwall has not been identified as a target
BBC Sport reported that Bristol City CEO Tom Rawcliffe confirmed investment conversations with Alalshikh, while the same report said Alalshikh denied reports that he was to buy the club. That example shows why talks should not be reported as a purchase. It provides evidence of investment conversations involving an English club, but not a Millwall approach or a general plan to acquire an English team. BBC Sport
What the Derby County episode does—and does not—show
In a report dated 10 August 2026, BBC Sport said Alalshikh had abandoned his proposed purchase of Derby County. The reported explanation was that the regulatory process left too little time to prepare for the season. What would confirm a Millwall takeover story?
Until attributable reporting establishes a Millwall-specific approach, claims about the club’s location, supporters, stadium, valuation, league position or ownership as reasons for an alleged bid are unsupported. A credible account should distinguish the evidence at each stage:
- Interest or informal talks: who confirmed the contact, and what was discussed?
- A bid: has an offer been made, for what stake, and who has confirmed it?
- A proposed transaction: what funding, conditions and regulatory steps are described?
- A completed takeover: have the relevant approvals and ownership changes been confirmed?
For now, the responsible conclusion is narrow: Alalshikh has owned clubs and has been linked to investment conversations elsewhere, but the available sources do not establish a bid, negotiations or three reasons for a Millwall takeover.
