The most specific figure available is an estimate from Salary Sport, which lists Ben Gibson at £43,000 a week as Norwich City’s top earner for the 2023/24 season. Multiplied across 52 weeks, that comes to £2,236,000, or about £2.24 million a year. Treat it as a third-party estimate. No Norwich City statement confirming his individual pay was found, and a separate Salary Sport player profile gives a different figure, in US dollars, for his Norwich years.
Where the £2.24 million figure comes from
The weekly number comes from Salary Sport’s Norwich City wages page for 2023/24, which names Gibson as the club’s highest-paid player that season. The annual figure is simple arithmetic rather than a separately reported salary: £43,000 × 52 weeks = £2,236,000. The multiplication assumes the weekly figure applied for every week of the year. It does not show whether bonuses or other payments were included, and no breakdown of that kind was identified in the sources reviewed.
Comparing the estimates that exist
Several listings touch on Gibson’s Norwich pay, and they do not all measure the same thing. The table sets them side by side.
| Source | Period listed | Currency | Figure as listed | Annual equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Salary Sport, Norwich City 2023/24 wages page | 2023/24 season | GBP (£) | £43,000 per week | £2,236,000 (calculated over 52 weeks) |
| Salary Sport, Norwich City 2020/21 wages listing | 2020/21 season | GBP (£) | £43,000 per week | £2,236,000 (calculated over 52 weeks) |
| Salary Sport, Ben Gibson player profile | 2023 (Norwich City) | USD ($) | $58,050 per week | $3,018,600 (as listed) |
| Capology, Ben Gibson salary profile | Not stated | Not stated | No Norwich City figure identified | Not stated |
The dollar figure does not corroborate the pound figure
The $58,050 weekly amount on Salary Sport’s player profile is labeled 2023 and is stated in US dollars. The wages page is labeled 2023/24 and is stated in pounds. The periods overlap but do not match, and neither listing gives an exchange rate or explains how one would be derived from the other. Converting one figure into the other would require an exchange rate on a stated date, which none of these pages provides. The two should be read as conflicting estimates from the same publisher, not as two confirmations of one number.

The same weekly figure appears in two seasons
Salary Sport also lists £43,000 a week for Gibson in its 2020/21 Norwich City wages listing. That repetition could mean the publisher carried a figure forward from one season to the next, but the sources do not show how either entry was produced, so it cannot confirm what Gibson was paid in each year. The 2020/21 season also falls before his permanent move in July 2021, so that listing describes a different contractual period from the 2023/24 figure.
What Capology’s caveat means
Capology, which tracks player salaries, says its figures are estimates rather than official numbers. It also notes that a club’s financial statements can include personnel costs beyond the player wages it tracks. Club accounts therefore report wage costs in aggregate and are a different measure from an individual player’s pay. No Capology figure for Gibson at Norwich City was identified in the sources reviewed, so the caveat applies to the method in general rather than to a specific number.

Gibson’s Norwich timeline
The salary question matters only for the period he was at the club. Wikipedia’s career summary for Gibson gives this sequence:
- September 2020: joined Norwich City on loan.
- July 2021: completed a permanent move on a three-year contract.
- Four seasons: the total length of his time at the club.
- June 2024: joined Stoke City, ending his Norwich spell.
Because he has left the club, the question is historical. The 2023/24 estimate is the most recent Norwich figure available, and it is the one to use if you need a single number.

What the estimates do not tell you
None of the listed figures states whether it is before or after tax, so a weekly or annual number should not be treated as take-home pay. The figures also come from third-party listings that could not be checked against club accounts or a signed contract. Wage estimates are revised by their providers, so a figure seen today may differ from one published later.
If you want to use this number in a financial comparison, label it as a Salary Sport estimate, give the season, and keep it in pounds. Do not mix it with the dollar profile figure.
