Marty Supreme has grossed about $149.8 million worldwide, according to The Numbers’ figures accessed Oct. 8, 2026. But the headline’s unnamed war-film comparison is not confirmed: Alex Garland’s Civil War is a plausible candidate, not an established identification. Variety reported Civil War at $127 million worldwide on Jan. 19, 2026, when Marty Supreme had reached $97 million—so that dated snapshot does not show Marty Supreme passing it.
What the box-office figures show
Box-office comparisons need to match territories and dates. The Numbers’ title page, accessed Oct. 8, 2026, lists Marty Supreme at $96,047,769 domestic, $53,782,213 international, and $149,829,982 worldwide.
| Territory | Marty Supreme gross | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic | $96,047,769 | The Numbers, accessed Oct. 8, 2026 |
| International | $53,782,213 | The Numbers, accessed Oct. 8, 2026 |
| Worldwide | $149,829,982 | The Numbers, accessed Oct. 8, 2026 |
These are database totals, not an inflation-adjusted comparison. A domestic gross should not be compared with another movie’s worldwide total, and a dated running total should not be treated as a final figure.
Which war movie might the headline mean?
The available reporting does not name the film behind the headline’s phrase “one of the best 21st-century war movies,” nor does it establish that description as a sourced ranking. Civil War, a dystopian thriller directed by Alex Garland, is one plausible interpretation, but the identification remains uncertain.
#1 Best Overall
- Timothee Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow
Variety’s Jan. 19, 2026 report put Civil War at $127 million worldwide and Marty Supreme at $97 million worldwide at that time. Those dated figures show Marty Supreme had not passed Civil War in that snapshot. The later total for Marty Supreme cannot by itself establish that it eventually overtook Civil War, because a comparable later Civil War total is not supplied here.
A24’s record is a separate comparison
On Feb. 9, 2026, TheWrap reported that Marty Supreme had reached $148.8 million worldwide and passed Everything Everywhere All at Once to become A24’s highest-grossing worldwide release at that point. That is a studio-record milestone, not evidence that it beat a war movie.
How the film’s release built its total
Marty Supreme is a 2025 A24 comedy-drama directed by Josh Safdie, with Ronald Bronstein as co-writer. A24’s cast listing includes Timothée Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin O’Leary, Odessa A’zion, Abel Ferrara, and Tyler Okonma. The Numbers describes it as a 1950s-set story inspired by real life, with a 149-minute runtime and an R rating for language, sexual content, some violent content and bloody images, and nudity.
Rank #2
- Timothee Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow
The Numbers lists a limited U.S. release on Dec. 19, 2025, followed by a wide expansion on Dec. 25. The Associated Press reported a $27.1 million collection over the four-day Christmas weekend on Dec. 28, 2025. In that same report, Comscore’s preliminary estimate put the 2025 domestic box office at $8.76 billion with three days left in the year, compared with $11.4 billion in 2019. Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian called it “a really solid end to a tumultuous year.”

Gross is not the same as profit
The Numbers lists a $70 million production budget. Comparing that figure with the film’s box-office gross does not establish whether it made a profit: gross receipts are not the same as the amount returned to the studio, and this budget figure does not account for marketing, distribution, or other costs.
Where to look for home viewing
A24’s film page lists Amazon among viewing options, and The Numbers records a video-release date of Feb. 10, 2026. Those sources do not establish current availability in every region or confirm a specific physical format or listing.
