Brandon Williams is listed at £65,000 a week for Norwich City’s 2021–22 season in FBref’s wage table, which attributes its wage data to Capology. That is an estimate, not a confirmed Norwich City payroll figure: SalarySport puts Williams at £53,000 a week, and Norwich’s accounts do not disclose individual player pay or the club’s share of his loan wages.
What the £65,000 figure actually represents
FBref’s 2021–22 Norwich City wage table names Brandon Williams at £65,000 per week, or £3.38 million per year, and identifies the figures as wages data via Capology: FBref’s 2021–22 wage table. The annual figure is the weekly listing multiplied across 52 weeks; it should not be read as a confirmed payment made by Norwich.
Capology describes its figures as estimates rather than official salaries. Its methodology distinguishes verified players, whose figures draw on public reporting and/or sources close to Capology, from unverified players, whose figures may be estimated using financial-statement or UEFA personnel costs, or reporting that has not been confirmed. See Capology’s Norwich City salaries page. The available listing does not establish Williams’s verification status or define the £65,000 specifically as Norwich-paid gross fixed salary.
Why another source gives Williams a different wage
SalarySport identifies Williams as Norwich’s 2021–22 top earner at £53,000 per week, £12,000 below FBref’s listing. The two figures are separate provider estimates, not payroll records that can be reconciled by averaging. Their published information does not establish a shared method or show whether bonuses, loan arrangements, or the parent club’s wage contribution are treated alike. See SalarySport’s Norwich City 2021/22 wages page.

That distinction matters because Williams was on loan from Manchester United. Neither estimate establishes how much Norwich paid toward his wages, or what Manchester United covered. The £65,000 figure is best described as the amount associated with Williams in a third-party wage listing—not as a verified Norwich salary.

SalarySport’s historical season pages list the 2019–20, 2022–23, 2023–24 and 2024–25 figures: SalarySport Norwich City wages. SalaryLeaks lists Jack Stacey for 2024–25 and Shane Duffy for 2025–26: SalaryLeaks Norwich City salaries. The 2024–25 disagreement—£24,000 for Schlupp on SalarySport versus £35,000 for Stacey on SalaryLeaks—shows why these snapshots should not be treated as a definitive ranking. The figures also do not supply a full, comparable series for every season in the title’s eight-season span.
What Norwich City’s accounts can—and cannot—confirm
Norwich City’s annual accounts report employment costs in aggregate rather than naming individual player salaries. The club’s 2021 accounts show £54.628 million in wages and salaries and £4.842 million in other employment costs, for £59.470 million combined across those categories; the accounts also note promotion bonuses within wages and salaries. Other employment costs include loan players, but the accounts do not identify individual amounts or allocate a loanee’s wages between clubs. These totals therefore cannot verify Williams’s weekly estimate. See Norwich City Football Club PLC’s filed accounts.

Norwich’s 2019 annual report likewise provides aggregate staff-cost reporting, not a player-by-player wage schedule: Companies House filing history. Aggregate accounts can establish the scale of employment costs for a reporting period; they do not prove a particular player’s salary.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. So, who was Norwich City’s highest-paid player?
The strongest direct answer supported by the available listings is that Brandon Williams was associated with the highest quoted figure in the material reviewed: £65,000 a week for 2021–22. But that answer needs two qualifications: another provider estimated his wage at £53,000, and no cited club disclosure confirms either amount or Norwich’s portion of the loan cost. The evidence supports calling £65,000 a reported estimate, not a proven eight-season club record.
