GeekWire’s November 11, 2024 Tech Moves roundup reported three executive changes: iSpot appointed Nipun Dureja as chief technology officer, Expedia CFO Julie Whalen planned to leave after a successor was appointed, and Isabell Sheang rejoined Microsoft. Expedia later named Scott Schenkel as Whalen’s successor, and a 2025 filing records that Whalen’s employment ended February 17, 2025. The available reports do not establish whether Dureja or Sheang still holds the roles described.

Who became iSpot’s new CTO?

GeekWire reported on November 11, 2024, that Bellevue-based advertising measurement company iSpot had appointed Nipun Dureja chief technology officer. The report said Dureja had been a global vice president at DocuSign for nearly four years, following engineering leadership roles at Smartsheet, Providence Health and Services, Salesforce, Amazon, and Microsoft. GeekWire’s roundup said his remit would include engineering, quality assurance, infrastructure, security, and data science.

Dureja said he aimed to make iSpot’s systems more efficient and customer-focused, describing his approach as building “intelligent solutions to real-world challenges.” The quote was included in GeekWire’s report of his appointment.

Why was Expedia CFO Julie Whalen stepping down?

Expedia’s November 7, 2024, SEC filing said Whalen would step down as chief financial officer when a successor was appointed. She agreed to remain with the company through February 17, 2025, to support the transition. Her resignation from Expedia’s board took effect immediately on November 7. The filing said that board resignation did not result from disagreement with Expedia about its operations, policies, or practices; it did not state a reason for her planned CFO departure. Who succeeded Whalen?

Expedia announced Scott Schenkel as its next CFO on December 19, 2024. The appointment was to take effect the day after the company filed its 2024 annual report, which Expedia then expected around February 7, 2025. The announcement described Schenkel as having more than 30 years of financial and business leadership experience. Expedia’s appointment announcement

A later Expedia proxy filing records Whalen’s employment end date as February 17, 2025, confirming the separation date rather than just the timeline anticipated in the November 2024 filing. Expedia’s proxy filing

Who did Microsoft hire?

GeekWire reported that Isabell Sheang rejoined Microsoft as group product marketing and go-to-product manager. According to the roundup, she would lead a team developing global strategies for Windows Commercial, including work on the Copilot+ PC category and its AI capabilities. Sheang had most recently been a director of product marketing and go-to-market at VMware and previously worked at Microsoft from 2008 to 2016.

The report attributed the move to a LinkedIn photo and did not cite a separate Microsoft announcement. The sources reviewed do not establish whether Sheang remains in that role. GeekWire’s November 11, 2024 roundup
