Xbox has been reported to send free gift-card offers to selected users, but the available reports do not confirm an active giveaway as of October 8, 2026. Past offers were selective, had campaign-specific terms, and did not come with a public eligibility formula. Treat any claim of a current giveaway as unconfirmed unless it is backed by a current, authentic offer.
Is Xbox giving away free gift cards right now?
There is no confirmation in the available reporting of a giveaway active on October 8, 2026. Pure Xbox reported a selective offer in December 2025, and its Xbox Gift Card tag page lists a separate Spring 2026 report. Those reports establish that offers have been reported in the past; they do not establish a current campaign.

The December 2025 offer required redemption by December 31, 2025, so that deadline has passed. The Spring 2026 tag-page excerpt mentions a reported £4 gift-card message but does not provide complete eligibility rules, official terms, or an expiry date. Do not apply the 2025 offer’s deadline or details to the later report. Pure Xbox’s December 2025 report and its Xbox Gift Card tag page provide the historical context.
Who is eligible for an Xbox gift-card offer?
The reports describe offers sent to selected users, not a giveaway open to every Xbox player. They do not establish a public eligibility formula. There is no supported basis for assuming that buying games, subscribing, spending more, or taking another particular action guarantees selection.

Where did reported Xbox gift-card messages appear?
For the December 2025 offer specifically, Pure Xbox said recipients could find messages in these locations. These are historical, campaign-specific directions—not confirmation of where a future offer will appear.
- Xbox console: Xbox Guide > Parties & Chats > Chats.
- Xbox PC app: Friends > Chats.
- Xbox Cloud Gaming: the profile’s Offers & Credits area.
Check that any message is authentic before following links or sharing account details. Do not rely on an old message or its instructions as proof that a new promotion is active.

How long does an Xbox promotional gift card last?
Use the expiry date and conditions shown on the offer sent to you. The December 2025 report gave a December 31, 2025 redemption deadline; that date applies to that reported offer, not to other campaigns. Microsoft’s gift-card terms say promotional value may have an expiration date, so check the terms attached to your specific offer. Microsoft’s gift-card terms describe general conditions.

After redemption to a Microsoft account, Xbox gift-card balance can be used at Microsoft Store online, on Windows, and on Xbox, subject to the applicable product and regional restrictions. The US Microsoft Store product page says gift cards are issued in local currency and work only in the country of purchase. Check the applicable region and terms before relying on a balance for a particular purchase. See Microsoft’s redemption instructions and the US Xbox Gift Card digital-code page.
