What does “25x in 2024” mean?
A 25x multiple means an ending price 25 times the chosen starting price. To check a historical return, you need the start and end dates, the prices at those endpoints, and a consistent convention—such as daily closing prices rather than a brief intraday high. An investor’s realized return can also differ from the token’s price multiple because of purchase timing, fees, slippage and execution.
The headline provides no endpoints. The sources reviewed for this article do not establish a historical 2024 price series for both assets over a specified interval, so they cannot confirm that either gained 25x. A project roadmap, token listing or burn announcement is not a substitute for that price comparison.
What might proponents point to?
Retik Finance’s planned services and token launch
Retik Finance describes RETIK as an Ethereum ERC-20 governance token with a stated total supply of 1,000,000,000. Its official site presents a non-custodial wallet, payment gateway, peer-to-peer lending and DeFi card services. These are project descriptions; on their own, they do not establish that the services were available, widely used or producing demand for RETIK.

Retik’s whitepaper roadmap set a Q3 2024 target for a token launch on decentralized and centralized exchanges, followed by milestones extending through Q4 2026. Those entries describe plans, not independent confirmation that each milestone was completed.
In a May 20, 2024 release distributed through GlobeNewswire, Retik Finance announced a listing price of $0.15 and a May 21 launch. That was an issuer announcement about a historical listing price, not a current quote or evidence of sustained demand. At that announced price, a hypothetical 25x price would be $3.75 per token. This arithmetic does not show that RETIK reached that level or that an investor could buy and sell at those prices.

Shiba Inu’s ecosystem and burn narrative
CoinGecko identifies SHIB as the native token of the Shiba Inu ecosystem and lists its Ethereum contract address as 0x95ad61b0a150d79219dcf64e1e6cc01f0b64c4ce. The ecosystem’s Shibarium network and SHIB burns are often discussed as potential catalysts, but a network feature or a burn mechanism does not by itself establish enough adoption, demand or supply reduction to support a particular price multiple.
A report by The Shib Daily dated August 8, 2024, described a Shibarium hard fork and quoted the development team as saying that 70% of base transaction fees would be allocated to SHIB burns. That is a reported fee-allocation mechanism—not proof of the amount of SHIB actually burned, its effect on circulating supply, or any resulting price movement. CoinGecko’s Shibarium explainer also noted that an earlier reviewed point had no official communication that Shibarium would accelerate SHIB burns.

Why project activity does not prove a 25x return
- Plans are not delivery. A roadmap sets out intended milestones; it does not verify product completion or use.
- Availability is not adoption. A token listing or an advertised service does not demonstrate sustained customer demand or token utility.
- A burn is not a price formula. Its market effect depends on the amount removed relative to supply and demand, among other factors. A stated allocation is not the same as an independently verified burn total.
- Token prices need supply context. Comparing low per-token prices can mislead when supply differs. Market capitalization and circulating supply matter, and supply can change.
- Security reviews have limits. CertiK’s Retik project listing displayed six findings, including two major findings, and a centralization issue. It also showed the team as not verified by CertiK and “No” for CertiK KYC. An audit listing describes a bounded review; it is not a safety guarantee or evidence of future performance.
How to check a claimed historical multiple
- Set the interval. Specify the start and end dates in 2024 and whether you are comparing closing prices or another consistent measure.
- Use timestamped price data. Check reliable historical market data for both dates rather than relying on a project announcement or a current market snapshot. The CoinGecko SHIB page identifies the token, but its live price and supply figures change over time.
- Calculate the same way for each token. Divide the ending price by the starting price. A result of 25 means the ending price is 25 times the starting price; it does not account for investor-specific execution costs.
- Keep price and investment return distinct. If assessing an individual investor’s result, account for the actual entry and exit prices, fees and slippage rather than treating a market-price multiple as a guaranteed personal return.
What the available evidence can—and cannot—support
The documented material supports describing Retik’s stated token supply, advertised services, roadmap and 2024 listing announcement, as well as SHIB’s place in the Shiba Inu ecosystem and the reported Shibarium fee-allocation plan. It does not establish that those developments caused a 25x gain, that either token achieved one over all or part of 2024, or that either was certain to do so. No named analyst or regulator forecast establishing a 25x return appears in the cited material.
