Contemporaneous reporting says Richard “Old Man” Harrison intentionally left his son Christopher Keith Harrison, and Christopher’s children, out of his will. The same reporting does not say why. The family described the matter as private, so the public record gives the what, but not the reason.

What the reporting establishes

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on July 18, 2018, that Richard Harrison had updated his will the previous year, in 2017, and cut Christopher out of any inheritance. The article is the principal source for this account, and it is a news report rather than a copy of a court file.

The clause as reported

The Review-Journal quoted the relevant passage from the will, which it attributed to a copy first posted by The Blast:

“I would like to express my love and affection for Christopher Keith Harrison; however for the purposes of this Will, I have intentionally and with full knowledge failed to provide for him and his issue.”

The wording is useful for one reason: it shows the omission was a deliberate choice, not an accident of drafting or a gap in the document. It is also the only passage that speaks to Richard’s intent, and it stops short of explaining that intent.

Who the reporting names

The article identifies the people with defined roles in the will and in the family:

  • Executor: Rick Harrison.
  • Specified beneficiaries: Richard’s widow, JoAnne Harrison, and his son Joseph Harrison.
  • Sons of Richard Harrison named in the report: Rick, Joseph, and Christopher.

Christopher is therefore one of three sons named, and the only one the reported clause excludes.

Why the reason is not established

Asked about the matter, Rick Harrison replied in a text message to the Review-Journal: “The family had previously discussed this information and it is a private matter.” That statement confirms that the family had discussed the decision, but it does not describe what was said or why. The report contains no statement from Richard, Christopher, or the family explaining the reasoning.

The article also includes context that should not be mistaken for an explanation. It notes that Christopher had never appeared on Pawn Stars. Corey Harrison, a relative quoted in the piece, said he did not know the details of the will and had not seen his uncle in about 20 years. Those details describe the circumstances at the time of reporting. They do not establish why the will was written the way it was.

For that reason, any explanation beyond the reported clause, such as estrangement, conflict, or behavior, is not supported by this source. Readers who encounter such claims elsewhere should check whether they cite a document or a named person with first-hand knowledge.

Limits of the source

  • Single principal source. The account rests on one 2018 Review-Journal report, which attributes the will text to a copy posted by The Blast.
  • Will text not independently verified here. The quoted clause is the reported wording. A complete will in an official probate record was not reviewed for this article.
  • Date of reporting. The coverage is from July 2018, shortly after Richard Harrison’s death on June 25, 2018, at age 77. The reporting attributes his death to Parkinson’s disease. Later developments are not covered here.

What readers can take from it

The verifiable answer is that the will reportedly excluded Christopher and his children on purpose, using language that states the choice was made with full knowledge. The reason is not in the public account, and the family has treated it as private. A reader who wants more would need a primary document, such as the probate filing, or a first-hand account from someone who was part of that family discussion.
