The two people most often meant by “the owners of Roblox” are its co-founders, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel. Roblox says the company was founded in 2004 by both men. They are not, however, Roblox Corporation’s two current owners: Roblox is publicly traded and owned by its stockholders.
Who founded Roblox?
Roblox’s company information names David Baszucki and Erik Cassel as its founders and gives 2004 as the founding year. Roblox Support’s company information identifies both founders. Baszucki also described the founding partnership in a January 25, 2022 letter: “When Erik Cassel and I started Roblox, we envisioned a new category of human co-experience where people could play, learn, and work together in digital worlds.”
Baszucki remains with the company as its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, according to Roblox’s leadership page. Cassel’s status as a co-founder is a historical fact; it does not establish that he currently owns Roblox shares.
Who owns Roblox now?
Roblox Corporation is a publicly traded company, so its shares are held by stockholders rather than by two sole owners. The company’s 2026 proxy statement reports beneficial ownership and voting power for specified holders using shares outstanding on February 13, 2026. Those figures are a dated snapshot, not a live ownership register, and can change as shares are traded.

In that proxy, David Baszucki was reported as beneficially owning 47,070,464 Class B shares, equal to 100.0% of the outstanding Class B common stock, and holding 58.8% of total voting power. “Beneficial ownership” is the proxy’s regulatory reporting measure, which can include shares attributed through entities and instruments under the company’s stated method. It should not be read as a simple measure of his personal cash investment or as a percentage of all the company’s economic ownership.
Why voting power differs from share ownership
Roblox has two classes of common stock with different voting rights. Under the proxy’s description, each Class A share carries one vote, while each Class B share carries 20 votes. As a result, the percentage of votes a holder controls can differ substantially from that holder’s share of the company’s overall economic ownership.

The same February 13, 2026 snapshot reported that FMR LLC held 7.5% of Class A shares and 3.1% of total voting power. BlackRock, Inc. held 5.4% of Class A shares and 2.2% of total voting power. These figures illustrate why it is useful to distinguish ownership of shares from control of votes; they are not current real-time percentages.
