In the United States, Black Friday 2022 fell on Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving. Deals were available over a longer period: Target announced a November 20–26 sale online and in stores, while Amazon published selected offers for its Black Friday event. Those promotions have expired, and the available announcements do not establish a single retailer or product as the market-wide best deal.
What date was Black Friday in 2022?
Black Friday was Friday, November 25, 2022, in the United States. It followed Thanksgiving, which fell on Thursday, November 24 that year. The National Retail Federation (NRF) announced its 2022 holiday-weekend forecast on November 17, before the shopping period began.
Did Black Friday deals start before November 25?
Yes. Retailers promoted sales across multiple days rather than limiting offers to Black Friday itself.
Target’s November 20–26 sale
Target said its Black Friday Week sale ran November 20–26, 2022, both online and in stores. Its announced categories included electronics, toys and video games, kitchen appliances, trending gifts, and everyday essentials. This was Target’s own promotion, not an independent comparison of final prices with other retailers.
Amazon’s Black Friday offers
Amazon’s official deal article, updated November 25, 2022, listed selected offers, including examples involving Peloton, YETI, Ninja, and laptops. These are historical examples, not available-now recommendations.
Where were the best Black Friday 2022 deals?
The available announcements show where promotions appeared and the kinds of products retailers highlighted, but they do not establish a definitive best deal across stores. A fair comparison would require matching specific product models and comparing dated transaction prices, price histories, and retailer terms. The retailer announcements alone do not verify actual checkout prices against competitors, so they cannot support a savings ranking.

NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics estimated different things before and after the event; their figures should not be treated as a direct forecast-versus-actual comparison of the same measure.

- Before the event, their November 17 forecast projected 166.3 million people would shop from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, including 114.9 million expected to shop on Black Friday. These were planned-shopper estimates in a pre-event forecast.
- After the event, an NRF and Prosper survey estimated that 196.7 million consumers shopped over the five-day Thanksgiving-to-Cyber-Monday weekend, with approximately 87.2 million shopping online on Black Friday. These were survey estimates, not a literal count of every shopper.
