Yes—a technology executive stepped up, and the sale is complete. The Khosla family bought the Seattle Seahawks in a deal reported at $9.612 billion, with Silicon Valley investor Vinod Khosla serving as chair of the ownership group. NFL owners approved the sale unanimously on August 26, 2026, and the purchase closed September 3.
Who bought the Seahawks?
The buyer is the Khosla family, not a technology company. Vinod Khosla founded Silicon Valley venture-capital firm Khosla Ventures and became chair of the ownership group. His wife, Neeru Khosla, is the team’s controlling owner and president of the Seahawks Charitable Foundation; their son Neal Khosla is vice chair. The Associated Press reported that the ownership group also includes twelve co-owners: Mark Stevens, the Aramburuzabala family, Val Blavatnik, Sheryl Sokoloff, Gonzalo Hevia Baillères, Jesse van der Werf, Samir Kaul, Sunny Gupta, Nader Naini, Penny Pritzker, Carlyle and Dynasty Equity, and Sixth Street. The sources do not establish individual ownership percentages.
The Khosla family previously held a minority stake in the San Francisco 49ers and had to relinquish it as part of the Seahawks transaction, according to NFL.com’s agreement report and the Seahawks’ approval announcement.

What does the technology connection mean?
Khosla’s technology-sector background is real, but this was an investment by a family ownership group—not a purchase by a tech corporation. At the approval announcement, Khosla said, “And I’ve been tied to Seattle tech community for a long time, so it was pretty easy to make the jump.” He also said the group would “be in learning mode for quite some time,” describing an approach of learning from team management and fellow owners. Those remarks indicate his stated perspective; they do not establish what the new owners will change.
