Yes—U.S. Consumer and Business Platinum Cards can provide access to participating airport lounges, but they are not universal lounge passes. The credential, flight requirements, guest rules and space limits depend on the lounge program and location. The 2024 Delta changes are a separate issue: they removed access tied to Delta SkyMiles Platinum cards and excluded Basic Economy travelers, but did not erase the distinct Amex Platinum benefit.
Which lounges can Amex Platinum access?
American Express’s Global Lounge Collection includes Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Club, Escape Lounges, Plaza Premium and Priority Pass locations, among other participating lounges. Amex says the collection included “more than 1,550 airport lounges across 140 countries” as of January 2026. That is Amex’s network-level figure, not a guarantee that a particular lounge is open, convenient for your terminal or able to admit you when you arrive.

Participation and entry conditions vary. Before traveling, check the current Amex lounge listing and the operator’s rules for your airport and terminal, including operating hours, required credential, arrival window, guest policy and capacity restrictions. Amex’s collection page stated that Lufthansa participation ran only through September 30, 2026; do not assume it remains available after that date without checking the live listing.

How Centurion Lounge access works
Under American Express’s U.S. terms current on October 8, 2026, an eligible U.S. Platinum Member receives unlimited complimentary access to Centurion Lounge locations, subject to space and location conditions. The member must present a valid eligible card and a confirmed same-day departing boarding pass with a seat or zone assignment. The name on the boarding pass must match the card, and Amex may request government-issued identification.

Amex sets an entry window of up to three hours before departure, or up to five hours for a connecting flight. Admission is still subject to space, so meeting the itinerary requirements does not guarantee entry during a busy period.
Centurion Lounge guests and charges
For U.S. terms verified October 8, 2026, the charge is $50 per adult guest and $30 per child aged 2–17 unless the account has earned complimentary guest access. The child’s age may need to be verified. Guests must be on the same flight as the eligible member, and charges apply at each lounge location.
An eligible U.S. Platinum or Business Platinum account can unlock up to two complimentary guests per visit after $75,000 in eligible purchases in a calendar year. Once reached, the benefit applies for the remainder of that year, the following year and through January 31 of the next year. International lounge guest policies can differ, so confirm the rules for the specific location.
Not every additional card qualifies
Amex excludes Companion Platinum Cards on Consumer Platinum accounts and Employee Business Expense Cards on Business Platinum accounts from the Global Lounge Collection benefit described in its terms. Do not assume that a supplementary card receives the same lounge access as the primary eligible card.
How to use Priority Pass through Amex
- Enroll in Priority Pass through your Amex account or by calling the number on the back of your card. Holding the Platinum Card alone does not complete enrollment.
- At a participating lounge, present your Priority Pass credential and airline boarding pass.
- Follow the lounge’s own entry and guest rules. Amex’s terms provide up to two complimentary accompanying guests only at participating Priority Pass lounges that admit guests; a location may impose a lower limit or refuse guests.
What changed for Delta Sky Club access in 2024?
Delta’s policy update took effect January 1, 2024. From that date, Delta SkyMiles Platinum and Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business Amex Cards no longer provided Sky Club access. Delta also excluded Amex cardholders traveling on Basic Economy or equivalent partner fares from Sky Club access. Those changes concerned Delta-branded cards and fare eligibility; they did not make the Delta cards interchangeable with the separate U.S. Amex Platinum Card.
Delta later announced visit limits for eligible Amex Platinum and Reserve card access beginning February 1, 2025, with $75,000 in annual eligible spending as the route to unlimited visits. Because Delta’s current eligible-card, fare and visit rules can change, check Delta’s current access terms and the terms for your specific card before relying on Sky Club entry. The 2024 announcement alone is not a complete statement of today’s rules.
