In a January 2025 interview, Apple CEO Tim Cook said he typically starts his morning with coffee and cereal. MacRumors reported more specifically that he has protein-rich cashew cereal from Whole Foods with unsweetened almond milk, though Cook’s quoted words do not name those products. He also described using the early hours to answer emails from Apple employees and customers.

What Tim Cook says he eats for breakfast

Cook’s direct description is simple: “When I get up in the morning, I typically grab coffee and some cereal…Then I’m doing emails and generally, what I’m focused on in the morning is responding to employees and customers.” 9to5Mac reproduced the statement from his January 2025 Table Manners interview.

MacRumors’ account of that interview adds that the cereal is protein-rich cashew cereal from Whole Foods, served with unsweetened almond milk. That detail is secondary reporting: the direct quotation does not give a brand or exact product name, and the sources do not establish a particular SKU.

How breakfast fits into his morning routine

In the January 2025 account, Cook describes email as part of the morning, with an emphasis on replying to Apple employees and customers. He said emails may begin even earlier than 5 a.m. and described early hours as the part of his day he can control most, before the schedule becomes less predictable. The same interview coverage attributes an estimate of 500–600 emails on an ordinary day to Cook, with more on unusually busy days; that is an email-volume estimate, not a nutrition figure. 9to5Mac’s interview report

Why older accounts describe different breakfasts

Cook’s routine has been described differently across interviews and years, so earlier menus should not be combined into one fixed daily breakfast. An April 2024 report recounted earlier accounts in which his breakfast might include scrambled eggs, sugar-free cereal, unsweetened milk, or bacon after exercise. It also described a journalist’s attempt to follow Cook’s routine for a week; those experiences belong to the journalist, not Cook. The Asia Business Daily’s 2024 report

Other profiles support the broader picture of an early start without establishing one permanent schedule. MacRumors’ 2021 coverage of an Australian Financial Review interview said Cook was at his desk by 4 a.m.; it quoted him saying, “The morning is yours. Or should I say, the early morning is yours.” GQ’s 2023 profile reported that he rose around 5 a.m. to read email and then did weight training.

What the reports do—and do not—establish

  • The clearest direct food statement in the January 2025 coverage is that Cook typically has coffee and cereal.
  • The cashew cereal and unsweetened almond milk details come from MacRumors’ report of the same interview, not from the quoted sentence.
  • These are dated accounts of a personal routine, not proof of his current daily menu, a complete diet, or an endorsement of a cereal or milk product.
  • The sources establish no specific nutrition benefit or health outcome from this breakfast.
