The split is complete: Corteva spun off its seed and genetics business as Vylor on October 1, 2026, while Corteva continues as a crop-protection-focused company. That changes corporate ownership, but the available company and SEC materials do not establish that your local seed prices, product availability, dealer relationship, labels, or support have changed. Check current product information and ask your local dealer before making a purchase or application decision.
What moved to Vylor, and what stayed with Corteva?
Corteva announced the separation plan on October 1, 2025, proposing two independent public companies: New Corteva for crop protection and SpinCo for seed. It announced the SpinCo name, Vylor, on May 4, 2026, and reported that the spin-off was complete on October 1, 2026. Corteva’s original separation announcement, Vylor naming announcement, and completion announcement describe the transaction.
| Company | Portfolio described by Corteva |
|---|---|
| Vylor | Seed and advanced genetics, including seed, licensing, gene editing, hybrid wheat, and biofuels platforms. Corteva’s public materials also describe germplasm, biotechnology, and trait technologies. |
| Corteva | Crop-protection products, including biologicals and other nature-based products. |
These are company-level portfolio descriptions, not a guarantee that every product, license, label, or sales arrangement changed everywhere on the same date. The completion announcement reports more than 4,000 germplasm patents and more than 2,000 biotechnology patents in describing Vylor; those company-reported figures describe its portfolio, not farm-level results. Corteva also said differentiated technologies represented approximately 65% of its sales, a company-reported figure in the same announcement, not a measure of value to an individual grower.
What the split may mean for your farm—and what is not established
Corteva’s stated rationale was that separate companies could focus their capital, operating models, and innovation on the distinct seed and crop-protection businesses. That is the company’s strategic case; it does not demonstrate that farmers will see lower prices, better yields, more choice, or improved service.

The SEC-filed information statement identifies potential downsides, including lost synergies and joint purchasing power, the added costs of operating two public companies, possible disruption to customers and distribution channels, possible brand dilution, one-time separation costs, and uncertainty about realizing anticipated benefits. These are disclosed risks, not confirmation that a particular farm or dealer has experienced a problem. The SEC-filed information statement also sets out transaction conditions and says the distribution was intended to be tax-free for U.S. federal income tax purposes. That describes the company’s stated intent for the transaction, not individual tax advice.
Corteva’s July 30, 2026 report said separation-related timing activities were a $25 million headwind included in its 2026 full-year guidance. That is a corporate financial figure, not a cost estimate for farmers. In May 2026, Corteva said Vylor would be headquartered in Johnston, Iowa, and New Corteva in Indianapolis, Indiana; those locations alone do not establish a change in local service.

What to check before ordering seed or applying a product
Because the public materials do not settle local prices, inventory, dealer terms, support contacts, or product-registration changes, verify the details for the exact crop and product you use. Do not infer that a change in ownership changes a product’s permitted use or whether it is suitable for your farm.
- Confirm availability in your area. Ask your dealer whether the seed variety or trait you want is currently offered in your geography and through which ordering channel.
- Identify the responsible company and contact. For the specific seed, trait, crop-protection product, or technology, ask which entity now owns or supplies it and who handles technical support.
- Check current product documentation. Before buying or applying a crop-protection product, consult its current label and product information for permitted uses and directions. Do not rely on the corporate split alone to determine whether an application is allowed.
- Compare the quote and terms you are actually offered. Ask about current local price, availability, and dealer terms. The company announcements do not provide comparable farm-level prices or service data.
What shareholders were told about the distribution
The announced structure distributed all outstanding Vylor common shares to Corteva shareholders. Corteva’s SEC-filed information statement describes the distribution as intended to be tax-free for U.S. federal income tax purposes and lists conditions for the transaction. A grower considering the tax consequences of holding or receiving shares should consult an appropriate tax professional rather than treat the company’s stated intent as advice for an individual situation.
