Shilen Patel became West Bromwich Albion chairman when his company completed a takeover on 28 February 2024. His stated ambition was to help the club become a consistent Premier League presence, not a promise of promotion by a particular date. No reliable public figure establishes Patel’s personal net worth. And Carlos Corberán is no longer West Brom’s manager: he left for Valencia in December 2024.
Who took over West Brom, and when?
On 28 February 2024, Bilkul Football WBA, LLC completed its acquisition of an 87.8% shareholding in West Bromwich Albion Group Limited after receiving EFL approval. The club described Bilkul as ultimately owned by Florida-based entrepreneur Shilen Patel and his father, Dr Kiran C. Patel, and named Shilen Patel chairman. West Brom’s completion announcement records the transaction.
A later ownership disclosure lists Bilkul with 93.9% of the Group’s issued share capital and identifies Shilen and Dr Kiran C. Patel as indirect significant-interest holders. That later figure describes the disclosure’s context; it is not the 87.8% stake announced at completion in 2024.
What was Shilen Patel’s vow?
At completion, Patel said the project was intended to help West Brom “regain its standing as a consistent Premier League presence.” He also described Premier League success as an ambition and said he was committed to being a “responsible, respectful, and effective steward” of the club. Those are statements of intent, not a guaranteed promotion timetable or a forecast of results.

In a June 2024 letter to supporters, Patel called returning to the Premier League a “long-term goal” and noted the club had to operate within financial rules. The distinction matters: an owner’s stated objective is not evidence that promotion will happen by a set date.
What is Shilen Patel’s net worth?
Patel’s personal net worth is not publicly verified by the official club and company information cited here. Those sources do not publish a personal balance sheet or enough detail about his assets and liabilities to calculate one. It would be misleading to turn family business interests, the acquisition stake held through Bilkul, or money invested in the club into a personal net-worth estimate.

What do West Brom’s accounts say about club funding?
Club losses and shareholder funding provide context about West Brom’s finances, but they are corporate figures—not measures of Patel’s personal wealth. The club reported the following:

The May 2026 points deduction
In a statement published on 13 May 2026, West Brom said it had received a two-point deduction during the 2025/26 season following a P&S breach. The club cited £1,969,893 as the breach figure calculated by the Club Financial Reporting Unit, said it disagreed with aspects of the findings, and stated it would not appeal. These details describe the club’s account of the decision and its position; the panel’s written reasons are the source for the regulator’s detailed findings.

Corberán left West Brom for Valencia in December 2024. Valencia announced his appointment through 2027 after exercising a buyout option in his West Brom contract. The Spanish club’s official announcement also noted that Corberán had taken West Brom to the Premier League promotion playoffs the previous season.

In a February 2025 anniversary interview, West Brom chairman Patel discussed the subsequent managerial appointment and praised the choice of Tony Mowbray. That is a dated account of the club’s decision at that time; it does not establish West Brom’s later managerial status.
