On trust in the work and team
“Eu acredito no trabalho que vem sendo feito, acredito no meu trabalho e na minha equipe.”
Translation (ours): “I believe in the work that has been done, I believe in my work and in my team.”
On his experience
“Agora, chegou o momento de colocar em prática a minha experiência de mais de 30 anos de carreira.”

Translation (ours): “Now the moment has come to put into practice my experience of more than 30 years of career.”
The “more than 30 years” figure is Edi Rock’s own description of his career. It is not an independently verified statistic.
Virgin Music Brasil’s position
Miguel Cariello, identified in the release as Virgin Music Brasil’s general director, framed the deal as a continuation of the label’s work in urban music:
“Desde o início, o segmento urbano faz parte da cultura da Virgin. Agora, na nova parceria com a ROC7, teremos a oportunidade de seguirmos desenvolvendo ainda mais artistas e produtores.”

Translation (ours): “From the beginning, the urban segment has been part of Virgin’s culture. Now, in the new partnership with ROC7, we will have the opportunity to keep developing even more artists and producers.”
The phrase “artists and producers” suggests the goal extends beyond performers to producers, though the release does not spell out what that development involves.
The 2024 follow-up: Dow Raiz
An official Universal Music Brasil release article dated August 2, 2024 reports that Dow Raiz’s single “Se Perder É Um Dois” marked the start of his partnership with ROC7. According to that article, the release was curated by Edi Rock and Anderson Franja and distributed worldwide by Virgin Music. This is evidence of a specific later release relationship. It does not show that the overall ROC7 and Virgin arrangement continued unchanged after 2024.

A later Universal Music Brasil partnership announcement from 2022 lists ROC7 among Virgin Music Brasil’s 2021 partnerships and describes Virgin Music Label & Artist Services as a UMG network offering services to artists and independents. That gives corporate context, but the 2021 announcement remains the direct source for the deal’s stated purpose.
What the sources do not establish
- Financial terms, royalty splits, or fees.
- Contract length, renewal terms, or exclusivity.
- A complete current roster of ROC7 artists.
- Whether the overall partnership is still active today.
Anyone needing these details should ask Virgin Music Brasil, Universal Music Brasil, or ROC7 directly and in writing. Reports that repeat specific terms without a primary source should be treated with caution.
Questions to ask before signing a similar deal
This checklist is general guidance for artists weighing any label or curation arrangement, not a description of the ROC7 terms, which are not public:
- How long does the agreement last, and how is it renewed or ended?
- Is the artist exclusive to the label, and for which releases or territories?
- Who owns the master recordings and publishing, and for how long?
- What share of streaming and sales income goes to the artist after distribution and label fees?
- Which party handles worldwide distribution, and what does that cost the artist?
For a personal-finance reader, the practical lesson is that a press release describes intent, not economics. The clauses that determine income are rarely in the announcement.
