FOX denied that it was working with Vince McMahon on a new wrestling show after a February 2025 rumor suggested he might launch a promotion with the network. The denial settles FOX’s role as reported at the time; it does not confirm whether McMahon had separate plans to start a company.
What sparked the wrestling-promotion rumor?
The rumor surfaced in the days before February 25, 2025, after Conrad Thompson and Eric Bischoff discussed it on their 83 Weeks podcast. Thompson said he had heard rumblings that McMahon had spoken with experienced wrestling cameramen and speculated that FOX might be holding a broadcast slot. Those were unconfirmed claims, not established company plans. F4WOnline also reported that both Thompson and Bischoff expressed doubt about the rumor. F4WOnline’s February 25 report recounts the discussion.
What did FOX deny?
Andrew Marchand, identified by F4WOnline as a sports media reporter for The Athletic, reported FOX’s response. As quoted by F4WOnline, Marchand wrote: “There is a report that Vince McMahon might start a wrestling company with Fox as a partner. If McMahon is planning that or not, I don’t know, but the Fox part is not true, according to a network spokesman.”
Awful Announcing separately reported that a FOX spokesperson told the outlet the network was not in talks with McMahon to start a new wrestling show. The outlet paraphrased the response; it did not identify the spokesperson or provide those words as a direct quote. Awful Announcing’s report covers that denial.

Does FOX’s denial mean McMahon was not planning a promotion?
No. FOX’s statements address the network’s participation: it denied involvement and talks about starting a new wrestling show with McMahon. They do not establish what McMahon may have considered independently. The reports published February 25, 2025, did not confirm that he intended to launch a promotion, either.
What is established—and what remains unconfirmed?
- Established in the cited reporting: Thompson and Bischoff discussed the rumor on 83 Weeks, and FOX denied involvement through a network spokesperson.
- Unconfirmed: The alleged cameraman conversations, a possible FOX broadcast slot, and any independent plan by McMahon to start a wrestling company.
The cited reports document the story as it stood on February 25, 2025. They do not establish whether later developments changed it.
