The announcement was about venture financing—not a current fundraising round—and a separate $142 million third fund followed in December 2024.
What VGames announced
VGames, a Tel Aviv-based gaming investment fund, said it had raised $141 million for its second fund. The fund was intended to back game studios at different stages and support founders as their companies grow. Reporting described continued investment in Israel alongside expansion to teams internationally. GamesBeat and Calcalist CTech covered the announcement on December 13, 2021; PocketGamer.biz described its stage and founder-support approach.
How the $141 million fits into VGames’ fund history
| Fund | Reported size | Timing | What the sources establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| First fund | $60 million | Reported in 2020 | Earlier fund size, as reported by GamesBeat and InvestGame. |
| Second fund | $141 million | Announced December 13, 2021 | Fund for investment in game studios; contemporary reporting described backing teams across stages. |
| Third fund | $142 million | Announced December 2024 | A later, separate fund listed on VGames’ official news page. |
The similar sizes of the second and third funds do not make them the same financing round. VGames’ current homepage describes its broader positioning, including capital across a company’s lifecycle and non-dilutive financing; those current details should not be read as terms of the 2021 fund.
What the 2021 portfolio figure means
At the time of the announcement, CTech reported that VGames had invested in 21 companies globally since launching in March 2020. The report named 1047, Candivore, SuperPlay, and MPL as examples. The figure is a reported snapshot from December 2021, not a current portfolio count or a statement that all 21 companies were funded by the second fund. CTech’s announcement coverage provides that contemporaneous figure.

Which kinds of games and teams did VGames target?
The reporting characterized the strategy in terms of studios at different stages rather than a restriction to one platform. PocketGamer.biz quoted VGames principal and game expert Daniel Mironov saying, “We invest in teams, content and believe in a data-driven approach.” He also noted that the firm was often asked whether it invested in mobile, PC, console, or crypto gaming. That comment identifies questions the firm encountered; it does not establish a platform-by-platform allocation or a commitment to every category. PocketGamer.biz
