“AliExpress hidden links” is an informal phrase, not the name of an official AliExpress feature or a verified class of exclusive products. It can refer to a direct or hard-to-find listing, but it is also used for listings that show a generic item while a seller or outside catalog privately identifies a different intended product. That second pattern can conceal counterfeit or unauthorized branded goods. A claim that an item is “exclusive” does not establish that it is authentic, authorized, or even what the listing will ship.
What are AliExpress hidden links?
The term has no single settled meaning. In one broad use, it simply means a product listing that is difficult to find or shared directly rather than discovered through ordinary search. In the more concerning use documented by brand-protection company Red Points, the visible AliExpress page looks generic or describes a different item, while a private message, social post, forum, livestream, or image catalog tells buyers what product or variant the seller supposedly intends to send. Red Points updated its explanation on May 19, 2026: Hidden links on AliExpress and DHGate: how brands remove counterfeits.

Community posts offer anecdotal examples of catalogs with product or color codes that buyers match to generic listing options. Those posts show how the phrase is used; they do not verify the seller, the item, or how common the practice is. See the August 30, 2023 Reddit discussion.
Why can a hidden link be misleading?
If the listing describes one thing but an off-platform message promises another, the order page may not clearly document the product the buyer believes they purchased. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative’s 2022 Notorious Markets report describes the pattern with an advertisement for a counterfeit shoe that directs a buyer to a generic socks listing. This is a documented example of the scheme, not a finding about every AliExpress seller or link: 2022 Review of Notorious Markets for Counterfeiting and Piracy.

A listing that uses generic images or names does not by itself prove that an item is counterfeit. But a private promise cannot make the visible listing a reliable record of the branded product, its condition, or its variant. If the item matters to you as a particular brand or model, make sure that the product description and order record say what you are actually buying.
Are hidden links exclusive or authentic?
“Exclusive” is a seller’s claim, not proof of brand authorization or authenticity. Some hidden-link schemes documented by Red Points and the USTR concern counterfeit or unauthorized branded goods, but the available evidence does not establish what any particular seller will send. Nor does it provide a reliable figure for how often hidden links are used or how many involve counterfeits.

Distinguish a direct listing from a disguised listing by looking at what the listing itself says and records:
| Check | More transparent listing | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Item description | The visible page accurately identifies the product and relevant variant. | The page describes a different or generic item, with the real product named only elsewhere. |
| Brand and seller | The brand and seller can be checked against information on the listing. | A private message or catalog supplies the brand identity that the listing omits. |
| Order record | The product and chosen variant appear in the listing and order details. | The buyer is told to rely on a code or private confirmation that the order record does not explain. |
| Transaction details | The item’s description and purchase remain clear in the platform’s records. | Meaningful product details or instructions are moved off-platform. |
These checks help assess transparency; they do not guarantee authenticity or determine the outcome of a dispute.

What AliExpress’s terms do—and do not—say
AliExpress.com’s Terms of Use state: “ALIEXPRESS.COM DOES NOT REPRESENT OR WARRANT THAT THE MANUFACTURE, IMPORTATION, EXPORT, DISTRIBUTION, OFFER, DISPLAY, PURCHASE, SALE AND/OR USE OF PRODUCTS OR SERVICES OFFERED OR DISPLAYED ON THE SITES DOES NOT VIOLATE ANY THIRD PARTY RIGHTS; AND ALIEXPRESS.COM MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND CONCERNING ANY PRODUCT OR SERVICE OFFERED OR DISPLAYED ON THE SITES.” Read the AliExpress.com Terms of Use for the applicable terms. This is a contractual disclaimer, not a finding that a particular listing violates someone’s rights, and it does not establish whether a specific purchase is refundable.
AliExpress also publishes an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Protection Policy. The policy page’s current reporting steps and their applicability may vary, so consult the current policy and the terms for your region rather than relying on an old description of the process.

How to assess a listing before you buy
- Read the visible title, description, selected variant, and seller information. Ask whether those details identify the exact item you expect.
- Do not treat a private catalog, code, social post, or message as proof that the listing represents a particular branded product.
- Be cautious if the seller asks you to rely on off-platform instructions or to keep product details out of the platform’s record.
- If a seller claims that a product is exclusive, authentic, or authorized, seek evidence that can be independently checked; the word “exclusive” alone is not evidence.
- Before ordering, review the terms and dispute rules that apply to your region and order. No universal refund or buyer-protection outcome is established for purchases made through a listing that describes a different item.
For consumer understanding, public examples are useful mainly as illustrations of the practice—not as directories or recommendations. A public Telegram channel, for example, has included requests not to mention brands or post photos of received items. That behavior is a reason to be wary of concealment, not an instruction buyers should follow: ALIEXPRESS BEST SELLER / HIDDEN LINK.
