Applications are closed; the word “today” in the original headline referred to that historical deadline, not the current date. Are applications for the 2024 Union Bank apprentice posts still open?
No. Union Bank of India accepted online applications from 28 August through 17 September 2024. The notification said an application was complete only after the applicable examination fee had been paid online by the notified fee deadline. The bank’s recruitment page now displays later apprentice recruitment activity; the 2024 application period is historical.
The 2024 notification, issued by the bank’s Human Resource Vertical, Manpower Planning and Recruitment Division, announced 500 provisional training seats under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The seats were allocated by state and category, and the bank said the number could change according to its actual requirements.
Who was eligible to apply in 2024?
Applicants needed a graduation degree from a recognized university or institute by 17 September 2024. They had to be 20 to 28 years old as of 1 August 2024. The notice provided upper-age relaxation of five years for SC/ST candidates, three years for OBC non-creamy-layer candidates, and ten years for eligible persons with benchmark disabilities. How did the application and selection process work?
Candidates had to register on the applicable government apprenticeship portal or portals. The notice required NAPS registration and specified NATS registration for certain graduates. Applicants applied in their home state, selected a local language and could indicate district preferences; the bank retained discretion over allotment.
The notified selection process comprised an online objective test, local-language assessment where required, document verification and submission of a medical fitness certificate.

No. Union Bank described the position as on-the-job training, not employment or contract employment. The notification stated: “The engagement of apprentices is not an employment in the Bank. It is on job training provided by the Bank to gain experience and increase the employability of the apprentice. It will not be obligatory on the part of the Bank to offer any employment to the apprentice on completion of the apprenticeship program.”
