Ubisoft’s latest company-wide announcement did not set a three-day office week. On January 21, 2026, the company said it intended to move all teams to five days a week on site, with an annual allowance of work-from-home days. Three days still described the reported schedule at Ubisoft Mobile Barcelona in September 2026, where the planned five-day transition had been delayed until January 1, 2027.
Is Ubisoft returning to the office three days a week?
Not as its announced company-wide direction. Ubisoft’s January 21, 2026 announcement said it intended to bring all teams on site five days per week, while retaining an annual allocation of work-from-home days. The announcement tied the change to a new operating model and said the aim was to strengthen collaboration, knowledge sharing and collective dynamics. Those are management’s stated reasons, not independently measured outcomes.
The three-day figure reflects an earlier stage of the reported policy and, in September 2026, the schedule still in effect for Ubisoft Mobile Barcelona. That local status should not be mistaken for the current rule at every Ubisoft office.
What is the reported schedule by location?
| Location | Reported status and date | Remote-work details |
|---|---|---|
| Ubisoft Mobile Barcelona | Three required office days per week as of Catalan News’ September 1, 2026 report. The planned move to five days, initially set for October 1, 2026, was postponed to January 1, 2027. | The company said it planned to retain an annual allocation of remote-work days and consider individual needs. The exact allowance and exception process were not stated in the report. |
| Ubisoft Montreal | Game Developer reported on September 30, 2026 that workers had launched a petition to preserve hybrid work. GameMeca reported on October 2 that the five-day direction appeared to have reached Montreal. | The reports do not establish a complete location-specific allowance or exception policy. |
| All teams, company announcement | Ubisoft announced on January 21, 2026 its intention to move all teams to five days per week on site. | An annual work-from-home allowance was announced; its number of days and detailed rules were not stated. |
The company-wide announcement describes an intended policy direction, while the Barcelona account describes a local schedule and a postponed transition. The available reports do not provide a full, current timetable for every Ubisoft office.

Why was Barcelona’s transition delayed?
Catalan News reported that Ubisoft Mobile Barcelona’s approximately 110 employees were still required to attend three days a week when it published its September 1 report. The planned five-day start was moved from October 1, 2026 to January 1, 2027. That January date was a future plan in the report, not confirmation that the change subsequently took effect.
The report also described employee opposition. Around 40 workers gathered outside the office on the first day of strike action, according to Catalan News. The outlet said the CGT union attributed support for that first day to nearly half of the Barcelona mobile workforce. These are reported figures, not an independently audited count. CGT representative David Cuesta called for real negotiations; Catalan News quoted him saying the company “doesn’t want to negotiate.”

What is happening in Montreal?
Game Developer reported on September 30, 2026 that Ubisoft Workers of Montreal had publicly launched a petition to preserve hybrid work. The union said the petition had more than 300 signatures at the time of the report. That figure is the union’s count, not a poll of all Ubisoft employees, and the petition does not establish that Ubisoft changed its policy.
GameMeca’s October 2 report described a progression from two required office days at headquarters and selected branches in 2023, to three days in 2024, and a five-day direction in 2026; it said the latest direction appeared to have reached Montreal. This timeline is secondary reporting. Ubisoft’s January announcement is the primary support for the company-wide five-day intention.

What remains unclear about Ubisoft’s office policy?
- The exact number of annual work-from-home days in the allowance.
- How individual needs or exceptions are assessed.
- When the announced direction takes effect at each office, beyond the reported Barcelona plan.
Ubisoft described its earlier workplace approach in a 2021 statement as hybrid and tailored, with local leaders deciding which roles or people could be fully remote, office-based or hybrid. That is historical context, not proof of the current rules. For employees weighing commuting costs or other household budget changes, the practical answer depends on their location’s current notice rather than a single global schedule.
