What is the Uber Eats and Getir deal, and is it in Europe or Türkiye? There were two separate arrangements: a January 2024 grocery integration in six German cities, and a later Uber acquisition of Getir delivery businesses in Türkiye, completed on July 1, 2026. The Türkiye transaction was not a Europe-wide tie-up.
How the Germany partnership worked
On January 11, 2024, Uber announced that Getir and Gorillas products would be integrated into Uber Eats in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Munich. The German announcement described an assortment of more than 2,000 everyday products, delivered by Getir/Gorillas couriers. That was a grocery and retail integration on Uber Eats—not an acquisition of Getir by Uber.
Uber Eats Germany’s Head of Grocery and Retail, Dr. Fabian Schrempf, described the arrangement this way: “Now we are bringing more than 2,000 additional everyday products to our platform in cooperation with Getir.” This was the company’s description of the launch, not a measure of delivery speed or of current availability. Uber Deutschland’s January 11, 2024 announcement names the launch cities and product range.
What Uber acquired in Türkiye
On February 9, 2026, Uber and Mubadala announced an agreement covering Getir’s food, grocery, retail and water delivery portfolio in Türkiye, subject to regulatory approval and closing conditions. Uber said customers would continue to use the Getir Super App, with more restaurants from Trendyol Go. Those details described the proposed transaction and planned service arrangement, not a promise that every service or feature would be available everywhere.

On June 19, 2026, the Turkish Competition Authority announced that it had authorized Uber’s acquisition of Getir’s online food delivery and online fast-moving consumer goods delivery businesses, subject to commitments. The authority’s notice summarized Uber’s commitment to invest $500 million in Türkiye. It also said a reasoned decision would be published later, so the short notice does not set out the full detail of the commitments. Read the Turkish Competition Authority’s June 19 notice.
Uber’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, reports that the acquisition closed on July 1, 2026. Uber acquired 100% of Getir’s food delivery business and a minority interest in grocery delivery for approximately $465 million in cash. Thus, the closing terms were more specific than the original announcement’s broad description of Getir’s delivery portfolio: food delivery was acquired fully, while the grocery interest was a minority one. Uber’s Form 10-Q filed in August 2026 reports the closing and consideration.

Can you order Getir groceries on Uber Eats?
The 2024 announcement establishes that Getir/Gorillas products were integrated into Uber Eats in six German cities at launch. It does not establish current availability in those cities or in other markets. Check the Uber Eats app for your delivery address and the live store listings; a past launch announcement is not proof that a service remains available.
Did Uber buy Getir?
Uber completed a purchase of Getir delivery businesses in Türkiye, not an acquisition of all of Getir. Its filing specifies full ownership of the food delivery business and a minority interest in grocery delivery. The available transaction sources do not establish that the German 2024 integration was part of this acquisition.

What the deal announcements do—and do not—show
The companies described fast delivery and expected benefits for customers, couriers and merchants, but the cited announcements and filing do not establish independently measured delivery times or realized post-deal outcomes. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in the February 2026 announcement: “With a thriving digital economy and a dynamic consumer base, Uber is committed to investing in Türkiye for the long term.” That is Uber’s stated intention; the regulator separately summarized the $500 million investment commitment in its notice.
